Grilling up some chicken and turkey legs to take over for thanksgiving.

Bird was successful.

Used The Big Easy. Injected bird with a bottle of Tony Chachere's Creole Butter. Sprayed outside with olive oil. Shaked on some Chicken Rub from Bass Pro Shops.

Took about 2 hours. Meat is very tender and moist. Skin is crispy.

What temp do you guys do turkeys at on the smoker? Never done one. Wanna do a test run before I bring one to thanksgiving lol.

since mines was so big I did it around 300

If I would've gotten a 10-12#'er probably 250

That looks good I was worried if i smoked one it would get charred and end up with a bark I don't want lol

I figured I let it only take smoke for only for about 2-3 hours and basically let it roast the rest of the way

This was my first rodeo as well with a Turkey

I hope I can try Franklin BBQ once in my lifetime. I missed their pop up in San Francisco a couple years back.

Had Salt Lick BBQ, but wasn't really impressed.

Oklahoma Joe's is good though

If i wake up early enough i can make it to franklins its only 2 1/2 hrs away.

But that line tho. I passed by one morning at 9, man that line was all the way down the street amd they sell out quick.

That's crazy. Is it that good to warrant a line? I mean, there has to be other bbq joints out there that taste just as good without the hype right?

Side note, ended up buying some Oklahoma Joe's for lunch today

Is there any idea what runs and BBQ sauce franklins uses? I highly doubt it but it would be the only way I could try it lol Texas to far for me.
