C Students are the winners in life

I actually heard someone tell me something similar last night.

I met this woman randomly at a kimchi spot and she said to me, be a B+ student.

I get to have fun while retaining a relatively high GPA.

Something to think about I guess.

The one thing that bothers me about this mentality is that they forget to mention this usually applies to already smart people who are just bored with school.

Like you can't be average at life and get Cs or drop out. I knew a kid who dropped out junior year and by the next was making $100k in coding contracts.

He already had something to him that he could do.  If you're just average with nothing exceptional to contribute its not likely this strategy will work.

Ehh C student, I think its best to be a B student. Focused enough to keep the 3.0 but also focused on outside activities , which is why you dont have a 4.0.

I'm doing better than all of the 3.7+ gpa  students I went to school with. They were too focused on grades and books work while I was focused on gaining real world experience by securing internships and full time positions.

I never studied and did at least 40% of my homework from middle school to highschool the day of. Still smagged a 3.5 avg

I think this holds true to an extent because of how obsessive and stressful grades can make people. It's hard to really maneuver when you are constantly out of peace

more so that I never studied.
even if you don't study just showing up is some effort, just procrastinating the assignments is still some effort, winging the exams is still some effort.  That's what I did.  The people that put 0 effort never showed up and failed out
