I have been using crossfit only for almost two years. Got my L1 in Oct. of last year. Train at a box in a small town in indiana. Have kids and full time job so just put a Rogue rig in my garage for days i cant make it or have to instruct instead of workout. Which brings me to my first question for discussion. Who's equipment do you prefer? Im in the midwest so Rogue is always quick to deliver, but i also really like the quality and cost. I'm curious though what else is everyone using?

Where in IN? I am in Indianapolis, we have a Crossfit Box here at the Finish Line corporate HQ -

I run a gym in which we use both again faster and rogue equipment. I think rogue gear is much better in quality and durability in all aspects rigs, weights, bars etc.

West Coast, so Rogue freight shipping is hard to stomach when buying big box items.

I own an affiliate, got our first rig from ETE (Extreme Training Equipment). It's held up very well from the beating we put on it daily, and it's about 18 months old. They have terrible customer service though, so we've distanced ourselves from them despite the proximity.

As far as equipment goes, heard good things about Again Faster since their customer service is top notch. Tons of testimonials about them replacing barbells, with little to no hassle. Rogue has great customer service as well but when it comes to replacing barbells with lifetime warranties people have said it feels like an interrogation some times.

We order a ton from Rogue, most of our bars are Ohio Bars and the women's bars are Bella's.

The one good thing about Rogue, being in SoCal, is the Post Games Equipment sale. We scooped up our GHD machines from last years games, I would like to think Camille was on ours at one point,.

One thing we learned is if you nickle and dime you're going to pay for it in the long run, so bite the bullet and buy a quality product.

Work out exclusively at the gym, I do plan to have a home gym when I buy a house. The Rogue SML-1, P-3 Pull Up System, Ohio Bar and about 300 lb's of weight and a 2pood kettlebell is all I need. I'll do everything else at my gym (i.e wall balls, rope climbs, muscle ups, etc).

I've been spoiled by Rogue gear for my entire CrossFit run. My gym is Rogue outfitted from top to bottom, and I've never been disappointed in the equipment. I've dropped in on a few boxes that don't have a Rogue setup, and feel like there is a noticeable difference.

What are everyone's thoughts on Progenex? It's been a bit of a hot button around the web lately.

I am from Boston and we use Again Faster for almost everything in the box since they are a local company.  Took me awhile to get used to the finish on the rig but now I have grown to like everything they make.

Not a big Progenex fan, just really overpriced in my opinion and you can find better quality stuff.

I used Progenex Recovery, not going to push it on people. It doesn't have the greatest profile, and it's comparable to cheaper protein brands out their (ON). That being said, it doesn't taste like ****, and that's a major plus. If you are nickle and diming, then keep drinking your poop or chalk tasting protein. I've had to much of that, refreshing to have something that taste great.

It has sucralose, which gives it the taste. People knocking it, but at the same time talking about eating gummy bears post workout for the insulin spike,

Sometimes you feel like eating steak because you are tired of hamburger meat.

The Anthony Roberts stuff floating on the internet is bogus though.

SFH is also good, look into it.

Currently I do a More Muscle shake in the AM, Recovery after a workout, and Cocoon before bed. I'm definitely on the bandwagon. Honestly, it works for me, it tastes good, and it's convenience because they ship free and my gym also carries it. Just looking for other opinions to see if I should cycle something else in from time to time.

Anyone doing Murph on Monday? I think we're going to do it Sunday because that's when we have open gym. This will be my first time.

Didn't dig the taste all the much but also haven't tried anything other than the chocolate and tropical vanilla.  I currently use Muschpharm combat powder and that does the trick for me.

Any preference on Knee Sleeves? I have had my Workt sleeve for 2 years and they are just about done. Not sure what the life should be on knee sleeves. I figured id give them a try when they were new, and Spealer was one of their guys. (Spealer fan)

Edit: Also who and where is everyone's affiliate? I am out of Crossfit Danville obviously in Daville, CA. 8)

I just switched from 5mm rehbands to the all black Workt 7mm. So far I prefer the Workt.

General thoughts on ON's Gold Standard Whey? I like the taste of the Rich Milk Chocolate, and they have a lot of flavor choices.

Are you going to Rx?

Really depends, while you are on your run start thinking about how you are going to break up the three movements.

I've done it twice, first time went in with no plan and got destroyed,

Second time I did 10x10 (Pull Ups), 20x10 (Push Ups) and 6x50 (squats).

May not be the best and everyone has their own strategy, that worked for me. Oh, headphones.

Two years is pretty good.

I have a couple of pairs or Rehbands, been wanting to try Workt sleeves but don't have a need for them yet. Not trying to hoard knee sleeves.

Will be doing.  Not with a vest.

No reason not to break everything up heavily imo but people do wildly different strategies.

I'll be doing it Monday for the first time. I'm not RX'ing though. Looking forward to the challenge. I've got another friend of mine who is a first timer and will be breaking it up into bite sized portions. 5-10-15 x 20. I'm considering that as well. I've never attempted 100 pull ups.

Yeah going Rx. Doing it with my wife and some buddies so it should be fun. Great advice on breaking up the reps, thanks!
I think the push-ups and squats will be the worst part. I recently got my butterfly pull-ups and it makes it so much easier and faster than kipping.

In for new official Crossfit thread.

I'm at Crossfit Envy in Sacramento, CA. Got back from San Diego yesterday and saw some athletes at the airport rocking Metcons. My wife saw the grey gums and said they are dope, which basically gives me the ok to buy them.

I've done Murph twice. First time I did 20 rounds of 5-10-15 (pull up, push up, air squats), the second time I did 10 rounds of 10-20-30.

To be honest, the rep plan above seems pretty aggressive to me especially if its your first time.  Personally doing 5-10-25—don't see a reason not to break into small chunks.

You should probably have 30+ strict pullups (which you may well have) if you're going to do sets of 10, or you'll be wiped halfway through.

I see cool thanks. Might go with the thicker Workt or Rehands next time around. I just wanted to make sure 2 years was a reasonable run before I get new ones.

I have a garage/ outdoor setup, and have gear at work also at a community college in California. I've purchased gear from a bunch of companies. Rogue, Muscle driver, ETE, Vulcan strength, Rage fitness (through  dickssporting goods), Fitness cages, and diamond pro.

ETE is great if you are in Southern California, purchased my squat rack and pull up combo from them, along with my rower and kbs. I also shop on MuscleDriverusa.com often, I've purchased mainly comp bumper plates from them, as they have the best prices by far, especially if they are having a sale, they usually are always having some type of sale. All bumpers ship for free, and there is usually no sales tax unless you are from there state.

I also use Rogue, as there quality is always a standard.  Ive purchased multiple bars from Vulcanstrength.com and love them, they are priced well, extremely durable, ship for free, and have life time warranties. I keep one of these bars at my local box for workouts and oly work.

I've purchases most of my regular bumper plates from dickssporting goods (Rage fitness equipment), they often have them on clearance, or I have coupons. Also purchase medballs, and smaller items from there.

I've also recently purchased some gear from diamondpro.net and fitnesscages.com. Both purchased were through a local rep of theirs. Got a set of comp bumpers from diamond pro, quality is good, and they are super affordable, but I will say the Rogue, Muscledriver, and again faster are a higher quality in terms of standards.  I purchased a prowler sled from fitness cages in a custom powder coat for a killer price (cheeper than most black sled), quality is great and it is very durable.

If any one wants actual pictures of any of the stuff I listed just let me know.

If you are in the gym regularly, I feel like two years is a pretty solid lifespan for most soft goods.
