OFFICIAL CROSSFIT THREAD

People miss the cut every year, example being Briggs and Tovar last year.

I'm more shocked at some older vets making it, like Chad McKay, Spencer Hendel, Austin Malleolo, Jon Pera, Neal Maddox, Daniel Tyminski.

People talking about wild cards, since California was stacked, while the South is super weak.

Austin is 28 and Spencer is 26 and Tyminski is 29. Not exactly old, just savvy veterans of this sport.

Old in CF years..

Guess thats a bad term, meant to say guys who haven't had any luck making the cut the past couple of years but we're a big part of the rise of the CF Games, like hockey's original six.

I completely agree with you and if they didn't post their age I would have thought all of them were in their 30s. Cool to see them make a comeback and they were fun to watch in person at the East Region.

If CLB doesn't repeat at the Games, I'm gonna go with Lindsey Valenzuela to win, but I'll def be watching Brooke Ence

Kara Webb is the one to watch out for as well. She blitzed the Pacific regional.

This year is going to be completely different. The household names are not going to be way ahead of the pack like before which is a good thing as it makes the games more interesting.

It's disappointing to see people like Bridges and Fisher miss out, but there are so many great competitors now + the new regional structure means its not a cakewalk like in past years.

@GriZZla1024  I agree. It's def more fun to see who comes out of nowhere to make it on the podium!

Now if we can only get rid of Dave Castro!!! Ugh can't stand that guy!

I don't mind Castro, i just cringe at the way he announced the workouts.

I wonder if coverage at the games will shift a bit. I expect more coverage towards Froning (assuming his team makes it) and Khalipa and their teams.

I actually like Dave Castro, he's instrumental and a great thing for the sport.

Hopefully these girls don't kill CF Mayhem. Ol' girl was dying during the synchronized C2B.

Don't think coverage will be that much different but it will draw more casual fans. The team comp is going to be fun with Hacks Pack and the NorCal Crew battling it out. Don't think the Mayhem crew stands a chance against those two if they make it to the games. Their girls just aren't too good. I'm sure Rich will recruit some for next year.

The thought of none of the guys I've been watching be there is so surreal. Looking for good competition between Noah Olsen (who I think is underrated by some) and Fraser. Both great guys, met them at a GRID league event here in Charlotte.

EMOM 6: 2 power clean (building each minute) ended at #275- rest 2m

5 mins to complete 20 muscle ups - rest 3m

10 mins to complete 25 back squats at #315 (rest remainder of time if finished early)- rest 3min

row 2k, every 500m do 15 push ups, all while wearing a 20 lb vest- rest 5 min

25 deadlifts at #385

took about 68 mins or so with the rest....Happy Saturday everyone

Agreed, my coach makes us use them from time to time and it just ends up being filled with spit and snot.

Unless your at an elite level, I don't see the point of the mask.

That said, I am in a funk this week in the gym. Last week in a team WOD 155# hang power cleans felt relatively easy. Today, not so much.

WOD was:
5 RFT
7 c2b
5 hang power cleans at 155#
5 burpee box overs at 30"

Moved well through everything but the cleans and it took me 16 minutes and change. Frustrating to say the least.

6-3-2015
Metcon (Time)
6 Rounds for time:
12 Pull-ups
12 GHD sit-ups
24 Air Squats

10:58 RX

Did "randy" today and the fact that some people can do that unbroken blows my mind.  I did it in 3;20 and my forearms still hurt and its been 5 hours since I did it, brutal.  Can't imagine doing rope climbs and thrusters in the same day like the regional athletes had to do.

Just looked up Randy... Sounds fun as hell. But wait, you did 75 snatches in 3:20?

Yes, it's 75 snatches at 75lbs. I think I would have finished 38th in the east region (which is where I'm from) without having to transition the bar or run to the finish. Crazy that a "normal" time was in the 2min range.

Randy was our house WOD today, strength was 1RM snatch as we're at the end of a cycle. I need to manage my rest better, ended up at 7:35 but could have probably cut a minute from that had I just trusted my capacity.

Regardless, the fact that people can do this sub 4:00 and even sub 3:00 is absolutely incredible.
