Michigan Jumpman...

Rumors are starting to circle in Ann Arbor that when UM's Adidas contract is up, Michigan will be back with Nike in July of 2016.
On the basketball side of things, one of the "big deal toppers" is Nike offering the Jumpman branch to Michigan, joining UNC, Georgetown, Cal & Marquette. Obviously, Michigan has quite the history in hoops with the Fab 5, their recent trip to the Final Four and National Championship game and Elite eight just to name a few. Michigan is a brand that would look ELITE with Jumpman. I'm excited if it comes to fruition. Michigan and Nike are a match. What does everyone think?!

It won't happen. Adidas pays UofM over $8 million a year to wear their product. That's the biggest contract in college sports. Adidas is willing to pay that much because who else do they have? And Michigan takes it because they love money. They will renew the deal next year.

It's going to happen. It's not about money. It will be announced by this August.
Michigan will be Nike's highest paid, although more around 5-6 mil a year. Adidas was going up to 9.

I guess you missed the money that the 3 strikes dolled out to Az st and Miami

So it's not about money but Michigan will be Nike's highest paid? That doesn't make sense.

Also wouldn't it make sense that Nike endorse schools that are relevent? Why would they make a school that has done nothing in college football since '97 their highest paid? They pay the schools that will get the brand the most exposure. The Big House didn't look too packed the past few years.

Adidas is cleaning up on the "has been" and "might be" schools. Nike outfits 68% of power conference schools while Adidas has just 18%. That's why they are throwing money at programs like Michigan, Miami, Wisconisn, Mississippi State and Auburn. They need somebody.

And can we please stop bringing up the Fab 5? That was like 22 years ago. Hoops recruits these days weren't even alive when they were playing.

Jim Harbaugh and Michigan are worldly brands regardless of what your going to respond with. Michigan is still a top 3-4 outfitter nationally, even with their down years and with Adidas.
Michigan is one of the schools that made Nike cool in the early 90's.
Nike is looking at this as getting in early on a stock that's about to grow rapidly. As long as Nike's offer was a competitive one vs Adidas it was always going to be Nike. So no, overall it's not about money, to an extent. Jim Harbaugh was always going to come to Michigan, as long as the offer was competitive...UM paid him 5 mil a year vs 7-8 that people thought it would take. If it was solely about $, UM takes Adidas' 9 mil and runs.
You must be a buckeye or Spartan...

MDen will have 300+ items for sale on 8/1. But Jerseys will be available on 8/6.

Showing up in here because I've been waiting almost 10 years for this? With Nike my freshman year then it all started to go downhill.

Who is going to leak the PE's first?

nice to see so many Wolverine fans in here. Apparel on the 1st and Jerseys on the 6th plus a little something else... right on time for the BBQ at the Big House for all the recruits to see... Great job by UofM. Love it.
