People just love to ish on NY like we have some of the worst rappers or something. The OP found some random YouTube rap video and said, "is this the new Bobby Smurdah" and y'all just ran with it?

Acting like; Jay, Nas, Fab, A$AP crew, Nicki Minaj, French, and slew of other NY rappers are not still popping... :smh:

Yeah Kendrick is nice, J Cole (who has been living in NYC for the past 15 years and bigs up NYC 'Queens' all the time), and Drake are the top 3 right now but to say NYC fell off is crazy! We all know NYC doesn't have a control of the rap game like it did in the 80s and 90s, but that was considered by ALL RAP/HIP-HOP AFICIONADOS AS THE GOLDEN AREA OF RAP MUSIC and NYC kept it buzzing with of course help from the west coast (snoop, dre, pac (born in Harlem), and Nate dogg) adding more depth to the catalog.

Once New York lost control of the "throne" in the "rap world" that's when a huge decline in quality, sales, and respectability of the genre happened and rap hasn't recovered since.

A lot of your favorite artist today idolize and look up to NYC rap legends old and current. To say NYC fell of is something to worry about not gloat over...

Just my take.

One last thing, NYC invented iconic dances geared towards hip-hop. Break-dancing, Harlem Shake, The Kidd and Play dance, Dougie, the woop, aunt Jackie, get light, Smoney dance, and many many more I can't think of the list goes on.

Where did y'all get that NYC doesn't dance? Buggin :smh:

if that's the "current" gen of NY hiphop leaders.... yall need to own up to that L...

"son, we got nickie minaj out here droppin bars kid"

Those the artists you choose?

You guys can name other New York artist who get spins on the radio, invites to award shows, and are commercially known then the ones I mentioned??

Some of you guys have nothing to contribute but to criticize. When Iggy Azalea is considered one of the "best rappers" out today, that should tell you a lot about the current situation of hip-hop...

No.

Lol.

Don't even bother trying to debate with haters, If you ask them to name these imaginary artist from their city who's "popping" and actually doing well for themselves based off record sales and "buzz" in the streets NO ONE will say anything.

**** ill say it lol

I got zero rappers popping where im from.

I like the rappers roboski named tho.

NY cats been dancing. So Big Daddy Kane was lame? Ww invented the hip hop dancing. It's just coming full circle.

That ATL **** was wack though, those country boys looked like fools.

Bamboozled.

Just started rewatching the movie the other day and lost interest after about 30 or so minutes, but had it been my first or second time seeing it, so much of it would have made me :wow: at how the entertainment industry is still playing the same games. I don't know if art is imitating life or the other way around with a lot of the trendy **** today.

The scene in Bamboozled where Mantan dances for the execs reminded me so much of Bobby Schmurda dancing in the boardroom. :smh:

Yeah, I took it there. My bad. It's early and I'm grumpy before I have coffee.

I can admit that no one here is poppin just a bunch of copy cats making Chicago/Southern Trap raps

But that's the same thing happening in NY

Knew NYers were losing it when French Montana got on.

Struggle bars for real.

Or maybe its the fact that rappers have to namedrop NY to feel validated.

That should tell you something.

Why the inferiority complex.

I **** with Kendrick but the consesus was that he sounded extra corny coming out left field like that.

Big reason nobody paid him anymind.

TPAB was decent but massively overrated.

Truth its rappers from other regions that feel like NY set the bar, we know our golden era has passed. Fact remains that its 2015 and 15+ years removed from our renaissance and no other region has yet to experience a similarly prosperous era since.

Because the truth is everyone else had their best years in the 90s too but it still wasn't as good as us.

Inferiority complex is a *****.

Why the rest of you guys still looking for a cosign from Hov tho? Or worried about letting Nas down?

Kendrick still wet over Hov dropping a charity verse on the BDKMV remix.

Boy you sound stupid right now, even you don't believe what you said.

Ain't nobody worried about the borough of juice box shaped Mexicans and 10,000 train station steps.

That's what I'm saying. Dudes really out here trying to big up the bLonx like it hasn't been a disgusting hive of scum for decades
