I think he is specifically speaking on the visuals. It IS very possible for a historically subpar basketball game to have excellent visuals. He didn't say the whole company nor did he say the whole game was A1.
Live has great visuals. Not a fan of some of their animations, but I could say the same about 2K.

2k15 sucks so much, trying to play on Hall of fame without slider changes is damn near impossible withiut wanting to murder something...

2k just needs headbands and i think its pretty darn good lol , those of you having trouble on hall of fame .....pay attention to your timeouts , lineups , matchups .....you have to pretty much be a real coach ....i love hall of fame on mygm .....the highest difficulty is supposed to be difficult no ?
