Nike Air Jordan 4 Retro "White/Cement" - The Aftermath - NO BUYING/SELLING/TRADING

IMO, The fire red's and military's need to be on ice like the 3's. Came out waaaayyyyyy toooooo muuuuuccchhhh..!!!!!!

Don't know if this was already posted
Like I said before, & MAYBE it's JUST ME... But, the SPACING BETWEEN the I, & R LOOKS SIGHTLY OFF. Kinda like "I  R", Do y'all SEE what I mean? I KNOW it's an early pair/maybe FAKES, & I COULD be REACHING, but THAT'S MY HONEST OPINION. In THE end, I'm REALLY more concerned wit the OVERALL SHAPE/HEIGHT/CUT of the shoe. Also, COMFORT & NO PAINT CRACKIN'/CHIPPIN'. I tried my '12 Black/Cement's on AGAIN last week to see HOW they went with these BLACK/GRAY 501's I puchased, & the paint STARTED 2 CRACK/CHIP a little on one of the shoes. I HAVEN'T even ****** wore them out yet! It's ONLY the SECOND time I'VE ****** TRIED THEM ON! I HOPE & ****** PRAY when ALSO GET THESE NEXT YEAR...
Like I've SAID before, THEIR my AJ GRAILS & it's JUST LONG OVER ****** DUE!!!
lot of unnecessary capitalization
You're right about excessively unnecessary capitalization. Also don't forget about poor grammar when it's supposed to be they're, not their meaning taking possession. Shoot us please for having to read this crap.

I'm building a fund for these now bc these are the only shoes I'd consider paying resell and I'm anticipating a sadderday happening for me.

And in extra poor quality, even by the low standards of retro IV's

The Knicks/Cavs and BC IV's and a few otter colorways were pretty mediocre, but nowhere near as bad as the FR and Military

Neither color has ever had a decent retro

NIKE FIX THAT NA LOGO FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

that is WHY your justifying the 220 right?

if these come close to the level of he 88s i would be too happy.

But when your feet are in the shoe and you are putting weight and pressure on them is the "banana toe" really that noticeable?

Banana toe is mostly appearent with factory shoes. When laces arent chocked up theres a big difference. There's nothing to change the boxy toe.

Imo the things that need changes is the height on the collar, so the tab doesn't come in contact with the ankle. The tongue should be shortened and slightly more padded, and the toe box should be more slanted at a 45° angle and not a 70°. That'll fix the boxy appearence.

100%

Low-profile rolled toebox, and raise the entire Heel/Wingtab/Ankle by a 1/4 Inch. This should be top priority for any remaster IV

God...

The height is ****** killing me, that is my biggest gripe with the 4's & present retros. It's like someone threw the shoes in the dryer, & turned it on SUPER heavy dry...

Every retro, except the 1's & 8's are shrinking it's seems like. I'm still hopin' & prayin' that we get at least a slightly better mold for the 4's, but knowin' JB I'm not gettin' my hopes up.

The 1999's retros though, just BEAUTIFUL. Absolute PERFECTION in my eyes.

Man, If I could just get this these shoes exactly like this... I'd be EXTRA GOOD!!! But, you already know JB gotta keep us comin' back with the HALF-*** ****.  We probably won't get a true retro for another 10 years, & they'll probably be like $500-$700. They can keep that ****.

& If could just get these models, along with some TRUE retros of the 7's,11's & 13's. I'd be finally be DONE with JB.

I know y'all feel the same way.

no way Nike goes back to those OG slented toe box. the current toe boxes are all around every basketball shoes they make. it makes for better toe room, so that you aren't squeezing your toes and have wiggle room.

You dont seriously fall for that one? Its all about manufacturing process, nothing more nothing less. If MJ could play in the NBA in those , im sure all the posers can stroll the mall with em on.

manufacturing process are all the same. you don't really believe that with the "remastered" they are really going back to the factory to teach them how to make these shoes right? it's only about replacing the old worn out molds with the new and going back to better materials.

back in high school i wore my 99 retro firered 5s and i was getting pain from the stitching of the first plastic eyelid crushing down on my big toe joint. i actually took a scissor and cut a seam right below it, so that pointy part goes over the toe box panel when i walk or play in them. and those had pretty much the same shape as the OG. i just tried the remastered Hornets 5 at the outlet and they didn't have that problem with the raised toe box.

example; the OG and the 2000 retro Xi's. they didn't have the extra toe shell piece under the patent leather. the later retro XI's have them. to keep the toe box from deforming. like the OG i had for 19 yrs (sold'em last year). you can see how wrinkled the OG is compare to the 2012.

another example: the OG Xii has a higher mud guard and higher collar and YES, the material was awesome (that i had two pairs back then), but once you broke them in the lateral side guard doesn't really do what Tinker designed it to do because they were too soft at times. comes the 2003 retro 12s (bought 5 pair various cw), they had thinner, but stiffer leather. the mud guard took longer beating while playing in them. and the 2009 and 2012-2013 retros. the 2009 i played in the wht/red and they also contain your foot much better than the OG did. the 2013 taxi was the only let down in my case because the lack of padding in the tongue would cause the edge to dig into my ankle. i wore the same sz11 back then as well.

so yea, i do believe it. some changes are for the better. The only thing i would ever complain about the retros are the quality of the material.

edit: oh yea...and the ridiculous price!!!!! come on man...$220 for putting the Nike logo back on the shoe where the same remastered shoe that never had Nike logo still $190.

Wore OG 97 & 03 12 models. Never had that problem.

Wore 1995 & 2000 11s never had that problem.

Wore the 00 5s no problem, and wear my 99 4s to this day no problem.

Believe me, those changes werent for the better, it was to cut corners and save $. Air Maxes for example, were performance running shoes, and Jordan were performance basketball sneakers. Both innovative in their eras. All the shoes had slanted toes boxes. Asics slanted toes, zero problems. And probably the most comfortable retros out there.

Im not saying you're wrong, but maybe your foot didnt react well. But that doesnt mean they were uncomfortable for all.

back in those days (2000's) i pretty much plays 3 hrs a day 4 days a week includes both indoors and outdoors.

not saying the OG weren't comfortable, but am saying most of the slented toe box end up looking all wrinkled and deformed.

those were just few examples where i thought the retro played better than the OGs. There are vis versa cases as well such as the 13 and 14 og vs retros. the 03-04 retros may look the part, but they weren't as good when you put them on court.

one thing tho, at least for me, the retros in case of 11, 12, 13, 14 provided better lock down. i didn't have to deal with loose laces as often.

Would love to have a sit-down with Tinker to ask him what's up!  Some changes may very well be considered improvements; while others are certainly manufacturing/cost considerations.  If you look at the OG tongues, they're not smoothly shaped; kind of jagged.  The retros seem like an improvement in that respect, however, they're too high, and arguably too thin.

Personally, I'm just happy they came out with the retro concept b/c it lets me get the shoes I had and/or loved back in the day.  I just hope I can get a pair of these; for me it's always retail or bust!

I thought your comparison pics were useful, and I definitely appreciated seeing the different XI's, since I don't pay nearly as much attention to XI's as I do to IV-V-VI's

With that said, Im just not at all convinced that the explosion of Boot-Toe across JB is some kind of retroactive attempt to improve fit and performance on a lifestyle shoe

I have no alternative theory, but it just smacks of typical lazy JB and lack of attention to detail

lol, i can rep for that

didn't Nike had an article of something similar regarding the collar will all be U shape instead of V shape few years back? i remember they were saying it was better for the achilles.

My theory is once JB started using synthetics more and more, they began raising up the toe box give the foot more space. Having a foot confined into a space of soft material, the shoe is forgiving. Having your toes confined into a tight space with nonforgiving synthetic leather would cause disconfort. So they raised the toe cap.

Just my thoughts.
