Nike Air Jordan 4 Retro "White/Cement" - The Aftermath - NO BUYING/SELLING/TRADING

Depends on how long you mean when you say by the time you're ready to pull them out. Some people go through their pairs pretty quickly so you could mean anywhere from 2-3 years to 12-13 years. Other points to consider are the lack of knowledge about the longevity of IVs produced from '04 until now (2004 pairs might start crumbling in 2017, who knows) and the lack of knowledge of JB possibly using different materials in the midsole. As far as crumbling, I've seen only the 4s that were released in 1999 crumble. Idk if that issue has made it's way to 04-06 releases because I don't have any. They probably have tho considering folks DMP VIs are falling apart (recently happened to fat joe who claimed he kept them DS). Hopefully JBs been using new materials in the midsoles after the 1999s to combat the crumbling but until we find out for sure you should still go ahead and double if you really like a particular release. This years Oreos were pretty solid. I liked the materials used on the upper and I noticed that after 20+ wears since initial release up till now, there isn't a single crack on my Oreo IVs midsoles. My 2012 bred IVs tho.. don't get me started

If you do double and want to keep your 'on ice pair' in existence longer, fret not for there are now methods and ways of going about to prolong the life of your 'on ice' shoes before the dreaded crumbling. Even on shoes like 4s with air in the heel, we now know that if you lightly wear your stored kicks once in a while, like every few months or so, your shoes won't crumble as fast. I'm guessing the added pressure from your body weight brings life to the polyurethane midsole that, if left stored away without that weight from your body applied to it every now and again, would dry out and crumble. There are members here that can still wear 1999 pairs and other older releases without worrying about crumbling because they've always worn them since they released, some sparingly and others religiously. But in the same breath there are many other members who have kept their shoes stored and in true deadstock condition that had their pairs separate, crumble, and fall apart on very first wear. This method ultimately won't stop them from crumbling completely but it will definitely buy you some time. Overall what can be said is that the best way to preserve your jordan sneakers, your pieces of sports and pop culture history that you want to keep mint condition for as long as possible to continue enjoying them in their pristine, nostalgic condition, is to simply wear them; a practice many collectors don't want to do. Ironic.

Sorry for the paragraphs
Yeah man I hear ya. I actually wear my DS pair of WC 3's around the house for like an hour or so ever few months just to make sure they get pressure applied to the midsole. Thanks for the tips!

I find it somewhat funny how people are declaring that they're going to get one or two pairs...as though it will be that easy!  Despite the issues with shape, I want a pair b/c it's the first Jordan I owned in '89.  Although I spend the whole time I had them wishing I had the black cements (we didn't call them BREDs back then ;-).  So much so that I painted my WCs black and basically ruined them.   At least I did that after about 10 months (of daily wear), at a time when it was one pair of shoes per year, then toss them and buy a new pair.  i.e. Only wore them for 2 more months before getting the black metallic 5s.  I just hope I can get one pair at release time.  Despite the nostalgic value, I will NOT pay reseller prices.
If I wan't two pairs, i'll get two pairs, i'm not worried about that. I just wanna make sure at least me and @AirSakuragi  each have 1 before I think about doubling up.

The only reason to double up is that you would trash your shoes in months and you want to have that second pair to use later. reality is the polyurethane mid soles don't last more than 4-5 years unworn. JB is always retroing anyway, by the time you are done with the first pair there will be another retro.
This.

Despite all of the slack I got when I introduced that term, it's actually useful, and does affect the look of the shoe...heh ;-).

Yep speckle density has become part of my sneaker vernacular since it was everywhere in the Oreo 4 thread. Was it the Oreo 4 thread? Can't remember but I've been pushing for 'spaghettified'

spaghettified (adj) - loose lacing style that gives laces appearance of not being tightly laced and sometimes sloppy, but somewhat still presentable.

Used in a sentence:
"gosh wales laces are always spaghettified."
"Yo bro, just got some lebron 12s in and I have fat fingers so wondering if you can spaghettify the laces while I roll up"

Heh... Nice new word! Yes, it was the Oreo thread where I got verbally abused for my speckle density comment...

I think the concept of speckle density is still ridiculous lol. Weren't you upset over your "density" and wanted a refund or something?

That word is big in the Yeezy thread now. Dudes were hating on it when some member wore his like that... until they saw Kanye rocking some major spaghetti action.

 someone posted "spaghettified" in there a week or 2 ago... I believe also in the Foamposite thread and I'm not sure but I think it's in the Lebron 13 thread as well.

I was comparing the consistency (or lack thereof) between left and right shoes.  I'm a bit disappointed in the leather quality (though they look awesome, they're not at all soft), but otherwise love my Oreos. Never considered returning them, and enjoy wearing them regularly!  Can't wait to try to get these WC 4s, and I don't care about the speckle density, though I predict that the wings and midsole will be inconsistent speckle-density wise ;-).

Worrrrd! Yeah man I can't wait for these WC4's. They are my favorite Jordan of all time. Period...

I'm sorry mods if I did somethin' WRONG by postin' this... I'm JUST usin' these gifs I made to prove a point... Please DON'T delete this post....

Anyways, I couldn't find a video with some GM White/Cements....

But, you know it's BAD when these GM Black Cements have a better toe box than the Whites from the Mysole pics posted on page 57...

They said they were made in Vietnam, where Nike/JB needs to go back to makin' they're shoes IMO... Seems like they came out better there...

I know they can do the same in China really, but for some DUMB reason.... They keep givin' us the cheapness, but in the end... They know they're goin to sell out anyways. ****** quality or not.

Just FYI, posting excessively about GM's is a NT no-no. Thats why your posts keep getting deleted

Frustrating nonetheless to see the superior shape on fakes

This is what I'm talking about. The tongue is a little high but the rest if pretty flawless. I had a pair of fake Black Cement IV's back in early 2000's and they looked just like this. The tongue was better but they were spot on. The netting not lining up is the only giveaway. Otherwise they look amazing. It'd cop a pair of these all day long for a good price.
