Nike Air Jordan 4 Retro "White/Cement" - The Aftermath - NO BUYING/SELLING/TRADING

They still couldn't use the proper material for netting huh. Remastered line my ***. It's great they got the angle right but come on with that price point. Extra speckles and Nike Air is a major plus, even the quality leather but damn $220. I'm on the fence but we'll see.

i'm telling u, it's all lining up... read revelations, then watch the news. everything upside down and going haywire. summer weather in the winter (i'm assuming the winter weather in the summer isn't far off), wars and rumors of wars, ppl protesting in the streets throughout the country and the world, for that matter, ppl killing each other left and right, global catastrophe and famine, millions of sea and air and land animals all of a sudden dying en mass (earth off it's axis), starvation and homelessness, legalization of gay marriage, strange signs and wonders in the sky, etc (i could go on and on)...

AND nike is dropping the classics with NA? yeah, it's over guys.

(again, semi srs)

Does your tin foil hat have a Jumpman on it?

Why can't JB get the netting correct? Is it THAT hard for them to redo it like the OG? Complete laziness.
this. actually i wish so bad that i have the oppurtunity to ask these questions from mark parker or any of those who decides these things. and the most f'd up thing is they exactly know what the people wants over  years now. proper retros nothing more... but at the same time more retros more money for them.

The strangest thing is that the netting is one of the most visible parts of the AJ4.. Part of me wonders if they think that they've screwed it up on retros for so long that, if they tried to make it like the OG now, people would complain/may not buy the shoe as a result. This sounds crazy but I can't think of why else they wouldn't fix this problem after so many years.

Does anyone else think the OG netting actually looks cheap?  Even though I grew up in the OG days, I actually think the OG netting doesn't even look as good.  If the exact same shoe with both netting styles were sitting side by side and I could buy either one, I think I'd pick the newer netting.  OG is great, however, things do improve over time.  Maybe not leather quality, but some things do ;-).  The "modern" netting is actually probably a more advanced manufacturing process.  That said, it's probably cheaper for them as it's ultimately one part to sew in rather than 2.  Would love to get a real response from Nike either way; would be interesting to know!

Part of the reason that they made so many changes to the retros is because when Gentry ran the brand, he made it a point to make a change to each original colored retro to protect the value of the original Air Jordans, being a collector himself. I must say that the brand has definitely taken steps in the right direction. The quality has gone up and the brand is really trying to correct a lot of the wrong that they did for the past couple of years.

Nice try, Nike. We want OG.

No, it's just because JB cut corners with the re-release. MJ had no issue with that.

This is actually not true.

The backtab did dig into him.

That's why the backtab on the 6's stick out

I recall their being rumors of ruptured Achilles tendons due to the heeltabs on the OG's and 99 retros. People said this was the reason JB switched to leather heeltabs for so long and when they finally brought back the plastic ones in 06, they were soft rubber instead of the harder PVC on the OGs/99s.

Again, these were rumors and to my knowledge, never confirmed. The conversation came up around 2001 when JB and Nike had to recall some of their shoes for legitimately cutting peoples Achilles tendons. Various Jordan Trunner models, and a Nike model that I don't recall the name of, had adjustable metal heel counters that were intended to be pinched to provide better fit at the heel. When worn loose or for a long time and the inside padding on the heel wore through, apparently the metal was exposed and could cut your Achilles.

Anyone got pics or remember the name of the Nike shoe that got recalled? IIRC it was a running shoe in Navy blue and yellow.

Well everything was quality back in 1989. They couldn't skimp on materials because Jordans were meant to wear on the basketball courts back then. Also everything was cheaper to make. That OG shape is a thing of beauty, these Tetris come reasonably close

and the netting on the OGs looks the best IMHO...

It doesn't look terrible to me, but to each his own I guess....

Are you talking about the leather on the heel?
mainly talking about the excess bit of leather in the seam at the center of the toe box. but i've also learned bad stitching on the heel is another tell tale sign for fakes. so i guess i'm asking if real pairs had either of those problems.
