I'm sure that I'm butchering it, but it went something like, "Few are able to rise above their time, and so Few are able to change the world." Or something like that.

Basically, the premise is that it's hard to see society beyond the one you experience. Those that can, are exceptional individuals that can bring about great change.

I can't remember where I heard it. Could be a movie, tv show, or undergrad, but I remembered it today, and it's been bugging me ever since.
