That's not why those threads get locked doe.

Pstars have been posted in appreciation threads and mods let them pass. Because it was only the pic

It is the discussion about "adult films" or "escorting" is what get those threads locked.

Just so happens every time a Pstar gets posted, after dudes get the name they google the girl and comeback to talk about her scenes, or who else they prefer, and things like that.

Meth has had to police the Draya threads hard, and locked threads when we cross the line. So the idea it is "ok" is untrue.

I don't believe transgendered people are above being clowned on though... Especially when we get on almost everything and everybody here.

Yup. Deleting a thread just because Jenner happens to be transgendered isn't fair because you can find hundreds of threads getting on all types of people here...

Tons of rules are situational doe. But they're their for a reason. Hell a ton of our laws are

3 second rule, school zones, age of consent, etc.....Those could be all consider situational.

Meth drew a line in the sand, there are tons of places on the net where the line is further back. Hell there are some places where that line doesn't exist

I don't see why people would be upset (not saying you're one of them) that NT isn't one of them.

And NT always been like this, and at least their been a trade off too. I have noticed mods give dudes a lot more breaks now than they did 10 years ago. Dudes get banned from threads, and warnings instead of a hard bans.

Please.  Another poor bluff.  

How many IG "model" threads have been shut down for people discussing/requesting pornographic images?  

If you actually want those threads shut down, fine, but don't pull this false equivalency nonsense.

What do you think is the most likely outcome of that, that I'm gonna say "wow, you know what?  We SHOULD allow trans-bashing!  How silly of me to object to childish hatred!"  or  "Fine, let's just lock ALL of those threads if they confuse you so much." 

If you want to go the latter route, keep it up.  I think the distinction regarding the "model" threads is pretty clear:  Keep it respectful.  No pornography discussion.  No NSFW content.   If you guys can't handle even that, I have no problem preemptively locking them.  

The bottom line is the forum needs to remain respectful.  Make things tougher on that front at your own peril.

That's crazy to me. When the reality is it's the BS stigma that surrounds weed that makes it taboo to discuss. A stigma fed created by those who have a vested (financial and political) interest to keep marijuana illegal.

Folks got that prohibition mindset and thus it's somehow inappropriate to talk about something that in reality is actually relatively benign.

I get that there are minors on this website but at the same time we allow other content, especially those sexual and potentially exploitative subjects to rock.

I mean if CNN can have an on going feature on the marijuana industry, have nearly weekly articles about both recreational and medicinal marijuana use. I think it's archaic for a forum to close such threads.

Call me when it's legal at the federal level.  Until then, it's not appropriate.  We've allowed for the discussion of drug policy, but we don't allow "the official smoke out thread."  

The distinction is pretty simple to understand.

Stop it.  People weren't making fun of Caitlyn Jenner's dress on the magazine cover.  They were making fun of her sexuality.  Refusing to call her "she" and attempting to denigrate her identity is different than making fun of Kim's plastic surgery. 

Funny how the same people who claim they were just making fun of Jenner "as an individual" are the ones who think transgender people are "sick.

We've allowed other threads to discuss human sexuality - and even other threads to discuss Caitlyn Jenner.  The thread about her interview special is still open. 

Framing matters.  The topic post in the locked thread was disrespectful from the very jump.  I'd rather permit a new thread that is maturely framed and focused on a respectful discussion than try to hold a symposium in a child's pillow fort.  

That thread had plenty of time to turn around.  At a certain point, you cover the corpse and move on.  You don't leave it rotting in the street for vultures to peck at in plain view of passersby.

Many of the people you would've seen posting ignorant comments five years ago have since matured, but another wave of 15-year-olds has signed up - for whom human sexuality remains a novelty and a prompt for uncontrollable giggling.  

Circle of life. 

It's to the community's credit that so many of our fellow members continue to participate once they've grown up.  That's part of what separates our forums from, say, SC.  The core subject matter obviously skews young, but our standards and out veterans keep the place from becoming Romper Room.

If there's a thread that's being ruined by a small number of users, those users will be removed.  If there's a thread that the majority of participants cannot handle without violating our forum rules, that thread will be locked.
