Quitting Coffee

I've never been a coffee drinker until about a year ago, and now I indulge on it way too often. Its to a point where I'm becoming dependent on it to get me going in the mornings.

I drink about a grande sized cup everyday in the morning, rarely two cups but thats about it. But I've been trying to cut back/quit because of my dependence and starting to feel a small addiction, and I feel myself more on edge on little things.

Any advice/feedback on quitting or at least cutting back to a non-daily thing. Or feedback on your daily use of coffee and how you manage it to not be so dependent on it.

I didn't drink coffee all of last week but drank a few cups over the weekend, which is stupid in it self because I work during the week and thats what I use it for. I just like being energized and coffee does that for me. But that was a huge struggle during the weekdays.

Then haven't drank any coffee this week and its killing me. Very sluggish when I wake and its hard to shake it off throughout the day.

Or alternatives, which I understand is usually tea but I don't feel the caffeine is sufficient.

Well you first step is if you want to get off of caffeine in general is to limit it to one cup per day. Then after a week or so, make that grande size coffee a little smaller. Then after a few days, maybe taper off to black tea for another week and see if that does the trick.

Make sure you're getting adequate sleep, you're exercising, and you're eating well. Have a good breakfast in the morning, some eggs, whole wheat toast, throw an apple or banana in there too. For an energy boost, try some almonds, water, moving around, etc.

I typically have coffee or some caffeine daily, and I'm sure the days I miss out on it, I'll feel the effects.. but I also don't try to keep a regimented schedule either. I don't have coffee the first thing when I wake up every single day. If I have to be to work early that day, then I'll have some coffee. But if I don't work until later.. I'll wake up, have some breakfast, then have my coffee a few hours after I wake up. So I don't feel the absolute NEED to have coffee at certain times.

It also depends on your tolerance and body's reaction to caffeine. I like coffee a lot.. the taste, different brews/flavors, etc., but I also like the boost caffeine gives me. It's a drug, so it needs to be used responsibly, but so long as I don't start popping caffeine pills, I'm okay with it as a daily part of my diet.

I love coffee way too much to ever give it up. I think a lot of times for me its just the satisfaction of having a damn good cup of coffee. Maybe try mixing a decaf blend with a regular blend?

There are no alternatives, tea isn't as rich, energy drink aren't warm. Maybe Hot Chocolate. I for one cannot stay away from coffee, I love the taste way too much, wished they made decaf that tastes just as robust as regular coffee.

This. All of this.

I'm addicted to hot, black coffee (pause). Can't do energy drinks since it's cold and doesn't wake me up. I love ice coffee but can't drink it to meet my "fix"

Caffeine started having some adverse effects on me. Had to cut it out of my life entirely. Wasn't worse it at all. It was tough, though. Used to drink a Diet Dr Pepper and/or Coke Zero pretty frequently daily. Eventually, I got some pretty bad heart palpitations. Made it impossible to lay down without my heart pounding. So I said to hell with it.

I find myself drinking a cup of coffee in the winter than in the summer, it can be very addicting and i dont drink it to stay awake.
If i'm feeling really tired in the morning i have to drink a red bull.
It all depends on how i feel in the morning.

luckily I'm only tempted to drink it 3-4 nights a week when I'm at work. Never made it a habit to drink it at home

Grind and brew a pot of coffee every single morning.

I really enjoy a very hot cup of full bodied, dark roasted coffee.

Drink about 6 cups a day.

Dont really mess with coffee flavored milkshakes starbucks sell though

If you drink only 1 or 2 cups a day, I don't see the big deal. I was straight up addicted to coffee, probably was at like 7 cups on a bad day. But it gave me the absolute worst heartburn so I gave it up like 7 months ago and switched to tea. Tea is no where near as good as coffee for me, but I have to settle because the heartburn was unbearable.

I drink about 2-3 cups a day
