IIRC the OG powder caro IX's were lined in Caro on the upper I think.....may have been a hint of caro color there....

I like your optimism, but im cynical when it comes to JB. Size may play a huge factor on those differences.

I don't understand why people prefer the OG look of the tabs (the triangular "supports"). I'm all about OG, and the 4s hold a special nostalgic meaning to me as they were my first jordan's in '89, and my first Nike's with visible air. However, I see the OG tabs as a manufacturing limitation and/or required due to the available plastics at the time (i.e. not strong enough). Getting rid of that looks so much better. The OG really looks like: "Oh, they couldn't figure out how to manufacture it without that there." I'm sure Tinker never saw that as a design element. Would love to see the mesh fixed. I recall fakes used to be identified by the mesh not being parallel to the wings, and the wings being flimsy. Now the retros look just like the fakes used to, and the wings are flimsy; so sad.
Same with NA vs. jumpman. Either Tinker didn't think of it, he wanted/needed to leverage the Nike brand as the JB didn't exist, or Nike wouldn't allow it. Guaranteed he would have put the jumpman on otherwise. I personally think it makes the back look better (less bulky/fat looking). I'll buy them either way, but happy to pay less and get the jumpman. I'm more about the original shape. For example, I'm not liking the taller tongue; throws off the look and feel. And prefer the more slanted toe box (not banana). Make those changes, along with the mesh angle, wing thickness, and I don't care about the tabs and jumpman!
All in all, I'm happy to see so many 4s, as I didn't start re-collecting until '13 (yes, about 23 years later!), and missed ALL of the OG 4 colorways....so sad!

I have to agree with the fellow cynics that are skeptical of JB's ability to get the mold close to an OG shape/style.
It's going to be difficult, for the most part and stylistically, they have always gotten the shape of the "mid cut" off and the toe piece that wraps around, it's been significantly reduced and misaligned on newer versions. The infamous banana shape still seems to be in tact.

I find it hard to believe that JB doesnt see that banana shoe crap. I believe that they dont want to correct it. Looks horrible..

Because true enthusiasts of many things collectable perfer things 100% true to form. Thats why you see guys spending an extra hundred on factory car items rather than the $9 reproduction item.
If I'm not mistaken Tinker loved the Nike Air branding. I know one of his fav parts was adding/finding the placement of the logo on each sneaker. Plus JB got their solo brand in 98 and didn't stamp the jumpman til 03. It was a matter of trying to distance themselves.

Good points. I wonder if there's anyone who actually doesn't know that JB=Nike. Unlike other brands where many lay people remain oblivious (ex. Porsche-VW, Audi-Labo that share many of the same parts). From a corp strategy perspective, it makes sense. That said, for retros, I could see honoring OG could be seen as acceptable. Nike appears to agree given the elevated price they get to charge!

IMO, I do think that the mold will look better but not perfect. Just getting those lace tabs right makes me happier.
BUT... Unless they are going to be made in Taiwan, I think we are still gonna see an overall IV that is still lacking in some aspects.

Believe me, the average consumer doesn't even know JB is under Nike. I remember shopping at a shoe store, and betting these store managers that swore JB was a separate brand. I flipped to the bottom side of the box where the Nike stickers are and they had stonefaces.
