Can you have your insurance give you the check then use some funds to move your car somewhere else?

since the side curtain airbag went off it is really expensive but since it is not required by law I told him not to fix it. Now he told me I wont be able to pass inspection or blah blah but thats just him trying to save face right? If my car is supposed to have side air bags and i elect not to install them does it matter?

yeah lawyers work for free. it's like getting taken advantage of by one industry isn't enoughGo to a lawyer and see if they can get you out of it. I'm sure there's some precedent that would get you out of this.
You can't be that dense. Plenty of lawyers will give you a free consultation and let you know what your options are. I'd rather pay a lawyer $1000 to handle the paperwork than pay a shady company $3000 to get my car back without any work being done. In the event that the lawyer says it will cost more than $3000 to take the case then just pay the company and get your car. Chances are these guys don't want the headache of going to court and will probably settle for less than $3000 anyway.

See the post above.People keep making these suggestions, OP has to take the L. If he can't afford storage fees, he can't afford a lawyer.

Put it this way, God Forbid you get caught in another accident and a person dies, they find out you tempered with the safety of the car by not having the airbags it was meant to have and you are monetarily responsible for that death or medical bills, funeral costs or even civil suits because you would have voided your insurance....same if you die, best believe you are gonna leave your family with a lot of *** to take care of, STOP CUTTING CORNERS FAM, that's the reason you are in this mess to begin with.
Aren't there cars that dont have side curtain airbags, and if they are not required by law how could I be responsible?
I went back and tok a look at the car. He said the frame was pushed to the side of the accident and that is costly. After some negotiating he said he would talk to his partner and see if they can do some partial work with whatever money the insurance will give us, and waive the storage and dismantling fees
side note
when I showed up to the shop the car wasn't dismantled and he claimed they put it back together. So I called the adjuster up and he told me that the car wasn't dismantled it had the hood and fender off.
It doesn't matter. Your car would never pass an inspection without airbags that it comes standard with. I think I'm done with this thread at this point because I seriously don't understand why you would be willing to potentially put lives at risk to save money. Then again, you roll around with only liability. Which is also why you're in this predicament. Unsub.
