Virginia Police Harass Black Man For Eating Oatmeal In Car

Surprised they didn't just bust his window on some rambo **** like they usually do
suprised too.. whats even funny is that I know that officer.. so after looking i was like.. hold up.. i went to school with him.. didnt ever expect him to be supercop..lol

But that knocking for 4 minutes.. epic.. if Roy was in the south south.. they would have busted the window on him and he would have became another hashtag.

Why provoke situations? All these situations could be handled so differently. seriously knocking on someone's window?

You failed to submit to my authority and shamed me in front of my peer....I must try and now get the property owner to trespass you to save face.

Funny but risky. That could have ended up very differently for him, would have certainly down here, especially after he said he had dozens of firearms in the car, they'd claim that as "probable cause" for everything done thereafter.

His partner noticed he had a concealed weapons permit and dude brushed it off.

Does the "probable cause" still work in that case? seriously asking

"The bowl of oatmeal must've looked like cocaine or something. Police are here to protect us"

"He must of looked suspicious. Who sits in their car and eats oatmeal like that? He must of been up to no good and god bless that officer for confronting that suspect! #bluelivesmatter"

God forbid he got caught shoplifting when he was 10, or sold a loose cigarette

It wasn't at all about the oatmeal.

Dude was sitting in his car at night in a hotel parking lot. Cop was just making sure he wasn't trespassing.

And all the guy did was say I have a room.... Cop is suppose to just say ok and walk?

lol....

a white guy in a suit wouldn't have been assumed to be trespassing though..

the historical context of the police force adds a background narrative to this incident

he showed him the room key his id his gun permit a credit cart and is security license.. and officer burrell started knocking on the window so long that you could spit a freestyle with hooks to.. but the laugh after the other cop ran his plate is priceless..lol

Good for him. That's a guy that knows his rights and did everything correctly. He didn't have to give the police officer his id because he wasn't being detained and wasn't being arrested.

To answer your question about probable cause no it would not have been. The guy "Mr.Williams" just showed the cop his concealed carrier card as a courtesy. Having guns on you or having a concealed carrier card isn't probable cause....unless for some reason the cop said he matched the description of a suspect in the area.....which I'm surprised he didn't try to say for some unknown reason.

Know the law champ, as far as trespassing goes if the guy was on on a hotel parking lot the cop would have to have the manager of the hotel there with him or verbally tell Mr. Williams that the manager wants him removed from the parking lot. Cops have to have acknowledgement from a supervisor or manager of a location before they can charge someone with trespassing......unless someone is breaking into an establishment after hours or something like that.

lol what?

Put your self in the cops shoes.

You drive by at hotel parking lot at night and you see a person in a car. (maybe the hotel called about, but lets say they didn't).

If the person doesn't have a room, then they are trespassing which is illegal. As an officer it's your job to follow up. If you don't regardless of color, you're not doing your job. Not saying dude was a perfect cop, I'm just saying it's not about the oatmeal which what some of you guys are making it seem like.

Might have to watch it again, but didn't he show him all of that through the window? He didn't hand him anything. Everyone knows you have to hand over your ID. Bars even make you physically hand over identification.

At the bar they just ask to look at it.. I never had to hand a bartender my id.

Word? I guess it must be a state thing. I have my ID in a see through pocket on my billfold and they tell me to take it out all the time.
