Who's the NBA's next megastar in around 5 years?

Uhh it definitely can. Him winning a chip would take him to that upper echelon, but meanwhile he's having an identity crisis. 
 
A championship would solidify his on court legacy but since when was that a requirement for being a megastar?

Is Iverson not a megastar either? Was KG not a megastar until he got to Boston?

Hell no. KG neither. 

Duncan wasn't, Barkley, Nique, Moses, Ewing, Malone, Robinson, etc. 

It's really been Magic/Bird/MJ/Shaq/Kobe/Bron in the modern era. 

It's a combination of accolades/achievements + mass appeal.

1. Clown statement if you don't believe AI wasn't a megastar. First ballot hof'er, and is arguably the most popular NBA player in the post Jordan era along with Lebron.

2. It's all relative. In this current era, KD has only trailed Lebron as being one the leagues faces.
 
You're placing way too much emphasis on a championship. That makes absolutely no sense. Branding is just as important as on court success when you're taking about megastardom.

They're called "stars" for a reason.
 
AI was popular because of the way he played and how he dressed, but as a player he's not even top 5 post jordan

tbh if you call yoruself a mega star yet cant win a championship you're career is a failure

Allen Iverson was a megastar man come on :lol: one of the more polarizing players the league has ever seen. Essential quality for a megastar to me
 
A.I. nah man dude was never really the best player in the league either; stole an MVP and got pushed out of the league because of his selfishness.

Did I type Duncan? No Shaq should have won it in 2001. 29, 13, 4, 3. Better than Duncan in every statistical category and damn near an identical record.
