NIKES ONLINE RAFFLE SYSTEM

I suspect that if this is successful, the same "member-first" method will be applied to online releases. Imagine this whole process evolving into checkout. Eventually, they could offer a "pay in advance" option, to speed up the process when you show up for pickup. And that could become something that allows you to request it be shipped to your home rather than picking it up.

Patience, like everything else, I guess.

So it looks like you have to have a text from Nike to certify your account. All accounts appear to have been changed from Nike to Nike+ ... does that mean they'll text the existing number on the account

Does it stop people from registering 10s of different Nike accounts on different email addresses to increase chanches of being picked up?

Edit: It also requires a real phone number, but i can still make an account for my mom, my dad, my friend, my cousin... I think they might actually have made it worse... We'll see...

The terms and conditions clearly says
NIKE will be piloting a new online drawing system linked to our in-store launch
This is not applicable to NDC launches.  This is replacing only that stupid Twitter RSVP system.

Although... I see no reason why they can't implement this on NDC.

i hope this doesnt mean they are going to release shoes online.. its BS to people who dont live near a nikestore..  hell there isnt one in all of Florida!

Yeah .... I think those of us with Nike retail options (3 in NYC: Roosevelt Field, Niketown, mercer21) are on the winning side of this but folks not near one are getting royally screwed. Nike's copped to the attack-of-bots being at issue, so they implement a system that levels the playing field for a few and increases the problem for its retail partners (FTA FTL HOH EB et al) in the mix. SNKRS accounts are already tied to Nike+ accts already, so nothing new there.....supposedly a NTer was told by phone that online releases would be back in play the 26th but not sure if that's a good thing given this roll out

You guys panicking need to read the website. This is for instore releases only and is the same thing they've been doing the past 6 months. So you guys that live nowhere near a Niketown feel like you're getting screwed over: NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

The one thing that stood out from all of this:

"All unclaimed products will not be available for purchase at another time."

This has me intrigued.

It also says swoosh accounts are not eligible. Both my acct before i got hired and my swoosh have the same email? So I wonder if ill be fine. And i hope the still do online release because i was flourishing with it.

I can see Nike implementing a similar process for their online releases.

This is just the first step: try the system out for one Niketown, then add another store, then a few more... Then all the Niketowns, then finally start using it for NDC.

Multiple authentication checks (email, texts, unique codes, app integration, answering questions, captcha) along with verified NDC shipping & billing information and IP tracking; scheduled window purchasing times... Seems complicated if NDC can pull it off.

This is dumb. Your gonna have people entering 100s of times and then gonna have trolls that don't even live near NTs entering. Anything online is gonna b hacked. Shoulda jus kept it how it was at NTs. In store raffles off the iPad...this is a step back IMO....

This.

I live not too far from 4 NTs ( 3 NYC, 1 CHI)  but they are far enough away that I wouldnt go to the store to enter a raffle but with it being online there isnt much of my time wasted.

You can guarantee some kid in Iowa will enter a raffle for NYC with no intentions on winning.

I think they try too hard on gimmicks and should stick to what they do best... make and sell shoes.

If you cant make to the store to enter a raffle you shouldnt be able to get the shoe period.

Since your account is linked to the in store release, I'm wondering if they will allow you to purchase online under the same account.

Basically a new method of the old twitter rsvp? Personally I was somewhat lucky with the rsvp, so I welcome this change. Let's hope it works.

It's still flawed. This wont stop people nowhere near a Nike town to flood the system and leave hundreds of shoes unclaimed only to go back online or in the store.

If Nike wanted to take it a step further, they'd only allow residents in a certain zip code range be allowed to enter according to the Nike store they picked. For example, Disneyland only allows SoCal residents to purchase their SoCal Select Annual pass by verifying their billing address is in the 90000-96199 zip code range.

They'd just have to make it a requirement to have a CC on file with your Nike+ account to enter the raffle.

when you sign up for an account, dont you give your addy, zip?

long time since i registered so genuinely asking. would be fairly easy to filter outliers. if people were to start taking time to create dummy emails to then create dummy nike accts for the sole purpose of clogging a release that will not leave "unclaimed pairs" then w/e i guess

billing zipcode can be changed, I understand you're coming from a good place of what they could do but I see how this could easily be exploited just like the other gimmick they've put out.. "If" the purpose of this new system is to prevent unfairness which the more I read about it the less I think it is.

You do but just like you mentioned people will find a way to beat the system... I thought I read they wont have any "unclaimed pairs" but will go to an "alternate participant"

I never entered a raffle instore before but that seemed like the easiest approach.

I mean if someone wants a shoe that bad they should be able to get it but Nike just made it easy for more people to enter who otherwise wouldnt take the time to do so. ( myself included

has anyone received a text to verify their account?
I didnt see this as an option on my account so I created a new one with the link from NDC and it has a mobile section but its not active so maybe it will be available tomorrow or thursday. Its still early

I did the Nike retail raffles (Niketown NYC; 21Mercer) for the CHIs and there was slightly over a thousand entries at Niketown (and suspect many of those folks also swung by 21Mercer for a like number)....the concierge area was the line for the entry and you wrote name/twitter/number/email on ticket which went into a box - typical raffle ish. Thinking about this Nike actually has the perfect model in-house....its lottery system for its running events. It's half marathon in San Fran gets upwards to 100K entrants for 25-30K slots. It uses the algorithm used by most running events in the half/ full marathon range stateside. You can weight the logarithm for geography, etc -- in fact Nike has a weighted entry for college students. Like mentioned when you enter the lottery you enter your CC and if you win you use the link emailed to you within the subscribed time to authorize the charge.

Looks like they are serious about the VoIP ban. My GoogleVoice number wouldn't work. Had to use my carrier number to get the text message.
