Exactly. I read two of his books which were very good, yet every time he speaks in relation to black issues, he seems totally naive and out of touch. you wouldn't think it would be that way based on his upbringing where he had to struggle and dealt with a lot of adversity. He very well embodies a good portion of NTers on here like you said.

And based on the rest of this 2014 Lakers-like roster competing for playing time, I'd rather go back and get John McCain.

^ I don't think so. Articles about his financials are already out there. If anything, he'll use that to show he's just like us/not in great financial shape, etc.

I just don't see Rubio getting the nod. His flip flop on immigration reform seems like it would hurt him among teabaggers, and he really doesn't have anything else to run on.

I'm calling it now; Bush-Rubio on the R ticket, Clinton-O'Malley on team D

But I would LOVE for Jim Webb to throw his hat in the ring.

Ben Carson is going nowhere fast. He's wasting his time.
You have to look at the wider republican strategy. The GOP knows they can't rely on white votes forever so what they are doing with Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, and Ted Cruz are trying to increase their footholds into the two largest minority communities in the nation: blacks and hispanics. At this stage in the game neither Ted Cruz nor Ben Carson are supposed to win. What they're supposed to do is encourage minority voters to look at the Republican platform as typically the GOP has alienated them in the past.

Let's be honest with ourselves. Black people voted in record numbers for Barack Obama mainly because he was black. Though blacks typically lean Democrat, as a culture we hold a lot of socially conservative values. LGBT rights, involvement in the church, etc are thing the black community at large have interest in. So they know if they can put a black or hispanic face on these socially conservative issues, they can pull some voters.

I hear and know exactly where you are coming from. However when you have a bombastic character such as Donald Trump talking down on Hispanics like he did during his presidential announcement yesterday or a guy like Rick Santorum and his stance on the gay community, it's quite clear to see that the Republican Party as a whole has let too many clowns into the Republican tent this presidential election cycle to either have a chance or to be taken seriously.

Republicans play the long game. They let Trump run his mouth because he brings in the far right. They'll still field him until maybe midway or 3/4 of the way to primary voting. Around that time they'll silence him and push Carson or Cruz alongside a full white candidate. It will further push the idea that republicans want more minority votes -- which is true -- while simultaneously satisfying their white voters. Don't forget they aren't just trying to get minorities accustomed to voting republican, they're also trying to get white voters accustomed to black and hispanic republicans as elected officials. They can get those white people behind black and hispanic candidates under the guise of "THIS  one makes a lot of sense" or "Here's ONE of THEM  that knows what's up."

Well, for one he is a doctor, he's spent his career in the medical field and knows more than anyone how to handle healthcare. He is a strong believer in health savings accounts (HSAs) which if you know anything about them, benefit the customer far more than contributing to an insurance that never rolls over, oh he wants to take obamacare down too, which I hope he does.

He wants to help protect the rights of personal beliefs, as doctor he has operated on infants pre-birth and sees that abortion is something that of murder. (I guess that's my most conservative view)

He wants to reform taxes, why make taxes so complicated? Ben Carson wants to simplify taxes for everyone.

Not to mention, we just need a conservative President in order for this debt to be balanced in any type advancement.

I have the same problem with this line of thinking as I had with people thinking Mitt Romney could fix the economy because he ran a  successful business.

Are you saying that even they have experience it won't help?
Im saying that it doesnt necessarily mean its relevant. running a profitable company doesnt mean you are qualified to save an economy. just like being a doctor doesnt mean youre qualified to reform healthcare or even run a hospital for that matter. Way more moving parts, way more variables to deal with.

Black people are not idiots. They're not gonna vote for a cornball that talks sideways about his people just to see another black president

Hillary would probably get over 90% of the black vote if she ran against Carson.

Hillary is popular among black folk, she always been. And she of all the politicians has kept it the realest when it comes to black issues recently. O'Mally and Sanders would rather not even speak about racial issues. Carson and company just talk sideways to the community

Her problem might be that she won't not turn out the black vote like Obeezy did though.

The black vote flock to Obama for a lot of reason other than being black. His progressive views and history helping the community basically made him the perfect candidate

On social issues. No candidate is touching Hillary, and no one will try cause they know it is futile.

The election will be about every candidate trying to convince America they can't trust Hillary for whatever reason.

For real, there were a host of factors other than being black that black voters took a liking to. A random person in the white house solely do to being black would've been Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. Probably Herman Cain as well, but hopefully that dream is long gone.

Yeah, but they would certainly have an upperhand against someone who's spent their life in another subject for instance.

Of course black people won't vote for a self-hating black person en masse but he will pull some. There are many black conservatives out there and I think all it takes is the right face to pull them across the aisle.

Hillary does have general black support but Sanders could easily out do her from the left if he actually spoke up. So if we're talking most progressive candidate Sanders would have a stronger pull on the black vote. I think his main hiccup is that he wont speak on race issues.

Ben Carson won't pull that many black votes. stop talking down on the black voters like they'll blindly vote for any black person.

Romney had Romney Care in Massachusetts and it was deemed massively successful. hes not a doctor and he spent his life in another subject. These guys will be nothing but figure heads. Spokespersons for their parties. Carson will reform healthcare in whatever way his party deems most beneficial to them and their view of whats beneficial to America. His background and experience wont make a difference.

Man, we missed out on Mitt, twice :\

I see where you're coming from, it's all in the candidate...
