Donald Trump is running for president

They are too busy demonizing them and blaming them for all the problems, they've backed themselves into a corner. Their base has a zero tolerance for anyone that doesn't say arrest and deport from day one. Any type of compromise and you're considered a RINO.

McCain was soft on immigration and look where that got us. Why didn't Hispanics vote overwhelmingly for McCain if what you guys are saying is true?

The Republicans need to figure it out. Hispanic population is growing they could turn Texas blue in 10 years.

I don't think the solution is to deport all of them and built a wall or put them in jail like they have been trying to do.

^^^^ Yep.

The GOP needs to do something to attract voters beyond whites.

Trying to disenfranchise poorer minorities is not a long term solution in my opinion.

And if Texas and Georgia possible becoming swing states within the next decade, they might be really screwed at winning the presidency anytime soon.

Unless there is a huge shock to the system. Like a major recession under a Dem president, or one that is a major screw up

See, I actually know what I'm talking about. You don't know history.

There were periods of time in us history where immigration was completely stopped in order for all the current illegals to be able to assimilate. If we don't have a border with laws then we aren't a country, period.

Don't get ahead of yourself boss. You thinking we should pay people more for a job that is worth less shows a lack of understanding of simple supply and demand economics. Who's gonna foot the bill b? You and that girl that got ripped on Fox News (your kind) that thought the 1% should pay for all young people to have free college education and student loan debt forgiveness would probably get along in a weird way, even though she's liberal. You both think money can come out of thin air and not effect other aspects of the economy in adverse ways.

And if you think those laws you're speaking of stopped people from entering this country you're just too dumb, sorry.

I guess where we really differ in opinion is that I don't care what your passport says. Hard workers should stay and lazy people should leave. That's how you make the country better. You want to kick out and prevent hard working people from entering the country, so we can give menial jobs to lazy US citizens and pay them more just because they were born here or naturalized. Can't wait for my taxes to go up even more when I have to cover Kevin's extra $6/hr for cleaning dishes! Woo!

I'm for the rule of law, you're not. I'm for waiting your turn in line, you're for people breaking the line. Where's your compassion for those people who have waited for years in line only to get jumped by law breakers?

I'm an immigrant from the Caribbean. I "waited my turn"

My mother immigrated with a green card through here dad, and legally then sent for us.

Because the system is so broken and the embassy is in another country, it cost my family thousands of dollars, multiple interviews, and years of waiting to get me and my sister to get green cards.

And every single one of them members of my family that paid that money, felt the disappointing of being turned down for a silly reason, and had their lives in limbo for years, all support letting these people say in the country and giving these people a path to citizenship.

Because they people are coming from farrrrrrrrrrrrr worst situations than what I was coming from, and should go through what I went through.

I'm all for border controls, even though I realize how futile and expensive it will be. But the people that are in this country should be allowed to stay and given a path to citizenship

-------

By the way, funny to hear a hard core conservative talk about rule of law.

Wasn't hearing a lot of that from the right when the SCOTUS went back-to-back on them this summer with the ACA and same sex marriage ruling.

Calling folk that refused to issue marriage license to same sex couples "heroes" :smh:

You're all for border controls.

Good, we agree.

-Mostly to appease the right so they can calm down and actually come to the table to solve this issue. They're going to be expensive and very futile

And since we agree, I guess you're all for giving the people in America amnesty and a path to citizenship :D

My man

Glad you've seen the light. It didn't know you had it in you famb. I'm proud :smokin

Lol man you must be drinking early tonight. So if you had your way, there would be no border control at all? How would we even have a country with no boundaries?

You sound like a really generous guy. You must let anyone off the street come into your house and live there. Wow you're a nice guy.

I wonder if Obama will open the gates to the White House and let strangers off the street come in and stay. Oh and give them free healthcare and welfare while he's at it.

As a nonamerica looking in, trump is by far the most entertaining candidate. So far I'm not a fan of any candidate, I would probably lean towards Hillary too see what happens when a woman is president.

You basically took half a sentence that I wrote then trip over yourself to put words into my mouth.

Yet, you want people to believe your the rational one our exchanges

-Border controls are expensive and will prove futile if we just throw money at the problem to guard the ENTIRE MEXICAN BORDER

Building a wall is going to be crazy expensive.

Plus most undocumented immigrants are coming from Asia now by plane. How is border control going to stop that?

Why not just cut off the supply of jobs, since that is the main motivator for people coming over. Crack down on the firms hiring undocumented workers.

It seems to me that the major hold up is that Hispanic tend to vote Democrat, so people like you don't want to consider a logical (and less expensive) solution to this problem because of that reason.

correct, I am not for the rule of law.

Look at what is happening in Paris right now. How in the hell people don't want to secure our borders is beyond me.

Building a wall isn't that expensive. The cost of illegals in our country now is $200-$300 billion per year. It will be a net positive.

Putting a wall up will just make people go over, around, and under it. They gonna get in b don't be scared.

Laws change though.

We had laws that said women couldn't vote, minorities couldn't vote.

Would you have supported those laws against women and minorities because the law said it was ok?

Israel constructed a wall and its working great. And ever heard of the Great Wall of china? It worked.

The White House has a wall that works.
