One dude tried to liken what trump wants to do to if somebody poisoned 20 grapes out of bunch and mixed them in a bowl and trump is trying to prevent us from eating a poisoned grape SMH

So you think Stephen King truly believes that liberals and minorities can't be educated too?

Like there can't be a venn diagram in which people fit into multiple groups?

Umm in literally the sentence before that he uses three different groups of people to describe a single person...

i said im not trying to imply anything. L.O.L. at the suggestion of a venn diagram. thats gold. i dnno, maybe subconsciously he does see them as 3 different groups. doesnt really matter to me. i dunno. i just have a hard time seeing someone i know to be a brilliant author making a mistake that blatant.

actually he called him AN entertainer, A carnival man, A buffoon. thats 3 adjectives is it not? i dont think those 3 terms describe entire groups or sects of people naturally. i mean of course you can say "you buffoons" or "all the entertainers" etc etc but thats not what happened there. minority and liberals and educated people are definitely describing 3 GROUPS of people. but again, lets not dig too deep. i really just found it interesting he said that. Freudian slip? slip of the key? who knows.

No she did not dude famb. All she said was "free speech, etc" in the most calm even tone. She is clearly used said it that say because we know the arguments people are going to make.

There was no laughing off

And she seems to be saying that government agencies need a way to hack into terror suspects phones and PCs.

Seems like Trump is saying the government needs a way to control the internet.

-Famb I'll be more than willing to shade Hillary if need be. This just seems like something I mildy disagree with her on.

But mostly just sounds like a politician, politicking

Gimmie a solid link to her plan so I can read it. Or even maybe the entire Brookings speech so I can get a better context of that soundbite these sites are jumping on.

What she said and what Trump said where different though. She wants ways to disrupt ISIS, Trump wants some control over the internet.

She vaguely wants tech companies to provide "back door" access to user data in case of suspected terrorists but they've argued that hackers could easily use that to their advantage and attack regular people. It was at a Washington event so there's not really video anywhere

-I don't see the irony. She didn't have a private server for security reason. It made her less secure as a matter of fact

-And her plan is short sighted for a couple reasons, ok, but I really think you're making a mountain out of a mole hill.
 
I normally detest tech bros but I agree with them and their sentiment that governments have an almost metabolic desire to fear and curtail a free and open internet.

The fact is that clandestine groups have operated, often with transnational reach, for centuries. They did it without the internet. We need to remember that what is done today to stop the "a rab" will be used on us eventually. The fact is that a universal ability to spy on the exact content of everyone's online communications will be abused and will be used to undermine and to blackmail political dissenters and opposition political figures.

I regard these policy ideas with extreme suspicion and I think, as a rule, we should be weary of any policy that invokes "terrorism" or "national security et cetera."
