Right my bad, I misspoke.
2nd option =/= 2nd best player on a champion squad.

What I mean is Draymond can be the 2nd or 3rd best player for any championship team.
Which is exactly what I want out of a max player.
In this respect, I agree. I think Draymond has proved that he can be the 2nd or 3rd best player on a championship team for sure. And those are the only teams who should max draymond out. Teams who are in a position to contend for a title with him added to their team.

This is null and void though since he isn't leaving gsw

so riley and arison is either giving wade some type of ownership when he is retiring or wade done lost his mind
reminds me of dirk taking less

If the spurs strike out on both LMA and Marc where do they go from there? Their core is only getting older, and they probably won't retain Danny Green and a few other parts.

If they do happen to get LMA at the expense of the rest of their team, how do they fill out the rest of their roster?

Dragic 100 Mil.......
B Knight 70 Mil.................

wade opted out from 22 mil per, then 16 mil per ...he's gonna mess around and start making minimum wage

if draymond was on any other team we are not talking max player. well i guess in todays NBA almost every starter is a 'max' guy

Dragic want 90-100 Mil

B Knight Gets 70 Mil

I would lean with you suggestion but I guess these are the times we are in of the NBA today.

Man i should of kept balling after college! |I

Klay #5 on that jersey list is pretty wild.

Less than 12 hours until Christmas in July. :pimp:

They are looking to move Splitter and Mills, to free up some space. Probably pick up a vet like Caron Butler

DeAndre Jordan seeking four-year deal with opt out clause -- sources

View media item 1606772
Chris Broussard, NBA analyst

Free agent DeAndre Jordan is likely looking to sign a four-year deal that allows him to opt out after three seasons, which would nullify the Los Angeles Clippers' advantage in keeping the center, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

The Clippers could offer Jordan a deal that includes a fifth year worth $27 million.

Sources told ESPN that DeAndre Jordan is tired of being a third wheel behind Blake Griffin and Chris Paul and would like a bigger role in the offense.

Jordan will meet with the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks and the Clippers once free agency begins Wednesday at 12:01 a.m. ET, sources told ESPN.

Sources had told ESPN.com earlier this week that the Mavericks are considered the likeliest team to lure persuade Jordan to leave the Clippers, and a source close to the situation told ESPN on Tuesday that it's "50/50" between the two teams.

Jordan finished first in the league in field goal percentage (.710) and rebounds per game (15.0) in 2014-15. He was the first player to do so in back-to-back seasons since Wilt Chamberlain in 1971-72 and 1972-73. Jordan's field goal percentage was the second highest in NBA history behind Chamberlain's .727 in 1972-73.

Clippers coach Doc Rivers made the case for Jordan to be named the Defensive Player of the Year for much of the season, but he finished third in voting for the second consecutive season. The 26-year-old center was, however, named to the All-NBA Third Team for the first time in his career.

Jordan became the only player in NBA history to average at least 13 rebounds per game while shooting at least 70 percent from the field in a single postseason as the Clippers fell one win short of their first conference finals berth.

While Jordan averaged a career-high 11.5 points per game last season, he shot just 39.7 percent from the free throw line and is a career 41.7 percent shooter there. While "Hack-a-Jordan" has become a common practice for opponents, the Clippers are 12-0 during the regular season when Jordan attempts 14 or more free throws.

ESPN.com's Arash Markazi contributed to this report.

Yall are bugging with the Draymond Green's value being limited outside Golden State stuff...

Elite defensive stretch forward who is going to grind his *** off and compete every night?

I'll bet on him shooting it better over the next couple of years because I completely believe he'll work his *** off to get better.

Agreed. Like other teams couldn't use a 25-year-old elite defender who can guard multiple positions and make open threes.

DJ wanting a bigger role on offense is laughable. We had a top 5 offense last year with him in a limited role and he still has no discernible offensive skill besides catching lobs. I knew Doc gassing him up so much would come back to bite him. Whatever though. Good luck with DJ the offensive weapon, Mavs.

If we strike out here, I gotta think that nothing else. Bring back Manu and Tim for one last go at it, sign some guys to 1-2 year deals and try our hand at FA next year.

I dont think they'll ever truly blow it up, but I can see the 2016-2017 season being a true down year for us based off of what happens this offseason.

What's Wesley Matthews worth to the Mavs?

View media item 1606783

Tim MacMahon, ESPN Staff Writer

Wesley Matthews would perfectly fit the mold the Dallas Mavericks have in mind for a shooting guard as they move on from Monta Ellis.

If he’s healthy. And that’s a pretty big if, considering his left Achilles tendon popped less than four months ago while playing against the Mavs.

Matthews has been the epitome of a 3-and-D threat, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound smart, savvy stopper who ranks among the NBA’s most prolific perimeter shooters. He’s a floor spacer who has some ability to create offensively and a guy who can give any wing a hard time on the other end of the floor. He’s also a terrific teammate. He’s pretty much the anti-Monta.

A healthy Matthews would without question be the Mavs’ top target at shooting guard this summer. A rehabbing Matthews still might be.

His injury, which torpedoed the Portland Trail Blazers’ chances of contending, muddies the waters as Matthews enters free agency. But two things are clear: 1) The Mavs are still very much interested, with ESPN.com’s Marc Stein reporting that the Toronto Raptors also plan to pursue him; 2) Matthews has no intention of being anyone’s injury discount.

Matthews’ reported requests for a multiyear contract with average salaries in the $15 million range are real, sources said. Matthews’ asking price is higher than that of Danny Green, another high-character shooter/stopper who doesn’t have as versatile of an offensive game but does have a clean bill of health.

Matthews’ camp has made it clear that he expects to be ready by the start of the regular season, meaning he also expects to be paid full market value. An Instagram video of Matthews rehabbing seems to support his camp’s contention that he’s made remarkable progress with four months to go before the season opener.

If the 28-year-old Matthews regains his previous form, a premier defender who scores 16 points per game playing primarily off the ball, he’d be worth every penny of $15 million per year. But paying that much for a player coming off such a serious injury would be a tough pill to swallow, especially if Green is available for $10-12 million per year, as projected.

The Mavs could make room under the salary cap to pay Matthews even if big man DeAndre Jordan, who hung out with Matthews and Mavs small forward Chandler Parsons in Los Angeles last week, accepts their offer of a max contract. It’d require parting ways with Raymond Felton, either via a salary-dump trade or by waiving him with the stretch provision, but it wouldn’t be difficult.

It’d just significantly reduce the means the Mavs have of filling out their bench. It could basically be the difference in the Mavs’ attempts to keep promising young forward Al-Farouq Aminu in Dallas.

(There wouldn’t be room for Matthews if the Mavs sign LaMarcus Aldridge because of the need to pair him with a center, but bringing Aldridge home is considered a long shot.

Price matters to the Mavs. How much are they willing to pay for Matthews? What will the market bear for him?

Those aren’t the first questions the Mavs have to answer in free agency, but they’re pretty high on the list.

David West?

There should be enough to Duncan, West, Kawhi (Bird Rights), Manu (Room Exception) and maybe Green..

People get hung up with the label of "max player". Max doesnt' necessarily mean they're the 1st option on the team, they're a superstar, or they should be held to the same standards as other superstars. It's simply what they're worth on the market.

A high energy, elite defender, capable of guarding multiple positions, who has the ability to hit 3 pointers... yeah that's a max contract player.

I wouldnt hate it, but definitely not for more than 10 Mill per (and that is pushing it)

If only we could have had a Monta Ellis D Wade swap four years ago.

They can still retain/add pieces if they're willing to go into the tax which they should be because the cap is rising next year anyway.

I was just going to say this. He was so over the top comparing him to bill russell and calling him the mvp. Doc is really something else :smh:. Good chance you'll at least end up with tyson chandler tho
