Neither are getting free agents, so is one really better than the other in that regard?

And until either the Lakers, Knicks, or 76ers start bringing in free agents its a moot point to discuss.
yes. people dont even want to get drafted to philly
laugh.gif
.they rather get drafted by the lakers

its definitely not "splitting hairs"  between la and philly. ,( the narrative you trying to spin).

Again, MIL, TOR, CHA, SAC all signed solid free agents this summer

There is no reason PHI can't also get some solid ones in the next 2-3 years once Noel and Okafor develop and the cap continues to rise

Sam Mitchell, assistant with Minny, pretty much hedged the question of if Ricky is ready to become the leader

 when asked last night

Pretty much "Uh, yeah that's what we kept KG for"

solid. nothing that will really put those dudes over the top. dont see those signings as really anything special

rondo , jeremy lin (im looking and dont see who else they signed as a free agent) , eric monroe, demarre carroll and corey joseph.

such an impressive list of free agent signings.

They definitely could but Hinkie's gotta start rounding out that roster with some talented guards. All those teams had a nice foundation, especially Milwaukee.

Free agents going to stay away from Philly like the plague until they change management.

You'd probably have to have one foot out the league with no one else wanting to sign you to sign a contract with Philly.

 so impressive./
Sac got Koufas, Marco, Rondo and Anderson

Tor got Carroll, Scola, Joseph and Byombo

Mil got Monroe which was big

I consider that impressive but of course not superstar league changing moves

There are only a handful of players that can "put teams over the top" anyway depending on the teams they sign to

When the cap rises market and location will factor in less. Teams like PHI with talent like Okafor and Noel will be attractive. NO's should be attractive with AD

Some of the teams that usually don't get ANY free agents will start to attract some solid talent. Again maybe not LeBron, Russell or KD but good talent

True but Sacramento didn't have a nice foundation

If you have a duo like Noel and Okafor you have something really good going

If you're a free agent, why would you go to Philly when LA has a better core and a GM with a winning pedigree? Philly has 2 players, maybe 3, and they all play the same position. Lakers have a balanced crop of young talent and decent role players.
this is only an argument because someone that doesn't know BB brought it up. LoL ...

Philly a destination to FA, smh. That stagnated front court, naw thanks.

Damn shame. And everyone thought I was nuts for saying trade him. Probably would've never passed a physical though.

Hopefully one day he can get healthy, but it's sad.
was with you all the way. I said it plenty of times, trade Embid for a decent PG.

People can't get to hang around potential. Next year will be year three and he hasn't really improved as a player because he hasn't play. So not are you betting he will stay healthy but that he improved quickly if not it be nother 2 to 3 years before you can get him where he needs to be.

No one is trying to wait 3 to 4 years for Embid. My bad Philly and the long term trust the system program.

Boogie, Gay, Collison, WCS is decent enough to get who they got. Rondo is an outcast, Mario was a journeyman until he got to the Spurs, Koufos is a solid reserve. That's a decent core for those kind of players. Philly is just two dudes and nothing else. Get some guards, show a willingness to hold onto talent and then maybe they'll get some free agents.

People sure having been overrating that "balanced crop of young talent" for awhile now, making it seem like they were untouchable in trades

Interesting seeing as D'LO has been on the team all of 1 week now

Do the Knicks or Lakers have Embiid, Noel or Okafor to convince young free agents to sign with them?

I think free agents will soon want to play with the future best frontcourt in the league, especially if Embiid turns out to be the next AD like they think he can be.

Just like how I think the Cousins-WCS pairing could turn around the mess that it's been in Sacramento.

Where a team is located at is far less important than how competitive a team is.

As it stands now, lal nyc and Philly all won't be fa hotspots come next summer until one of them show that they can be competitive.

It absolutely has nothing to do with location as to why I'm saying it. Although if you had a choice between the same exact team, same players just in different locations. For MOST NBA players. Better location wins.

But that's not how it works. Teams do not have the same roster. So ignoring location.

Buc's original comment was about the Sixers need to chase their guys with their cap space. And what I said.. IF the Lakers and Knicks had trouble getting guys with cap space, the Sixers will have even more trouble with their cap space.

Why? Because of "Trusting the process."

No player worth a damn in the NBA cares about their process. They don't see Noel & Okafor. They see a team that publicly admitted that they will not field a competitive team, and not try to win.

That is where you get this

The 76ers are feeling good about themselves after winning two straight games and three of their last four.

But that hasn't changed how the team is viewed by veterans around the NBA.

"No one wants to go there," said an Eastern Conference player who spoke on the condition of anonymity. "Not right now."

Established players cringe at the thought of being traded to the 7-29 squad. Marquee free agents won't even consider the franchise.

That's not surprising to the Sixers, especially coach Brett Brown and general manager Sam Hinkie. They realize that the franchise, in its current tanking state, is far from a sought-after destination spot.

Danny Granger and Andrei Kirilenko are two veterans who refused to suit up for the Sixers

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on...-dont-want-to-play-for-the-philadelphia-76ers

What attractive situation are you providing for a FA when not a single veteran wants to play there? When they don't even use their cap space? When they treat players like poker chips as opposed to actual people?

The Sixers would have been better off start getting veteran guys on their roster, and said "Hey look at us. We have young guys. And role players." Not just "We have young guys."

You know how Milwaukee & Toronto got players? They made the playoffs. The Sixers are the worst team in the league. Again. And not fielding a competitive team again.

Do you know how the Kings got players? They overpaid.

So no Philadelphia IS NOT even remotely the destination in Free Agency that New York & Los Angeles is. Not because it is New York or Los Angeles. Because no player cares about Hinkie's "process."

Also the question can the Lakers provide a situation with Noel, Embiid & Okafor.... Try Russell, Clarkson, Randle & Upshaw. And if they just go with team as is into 2016, $60mil in cap space. So yeah. LA can offer the "young core" that Philly can offer.

Also to include the meeting aspect, LA & New York got meetings with these players. Why? Because they are LA & NY. And they both sucked last year. How many meetings did the Sixers take with anybody of substance?

So sure, LA & NY may strike out again next year. But let's not act like Philly is remotely in as good as a position as either of them when it comes to Free Agents.

As dreadful as certain situations look, they can change quickly. A change in management here a change in coaching there and all of a sudden you go from where the Warriors were (hell) to competing in the playoffs..

Of course it isn't easy I'm just saying it happens. Just need a few young players who have great potential (Klay and Curry) or (Noel and Okafor) and fortunes can change quickly. You're right though, they need to show a willingness to build a core and they need to figure out if Brown is the right guy for the job. GS got new management and it was night and day

agreed essential1 . good post.

i never had any faith in embiid playing this year , and now i have no faith in dude being relevant in the L.

Huh? This crop hasn't even played a season together. If you don't think they have a nice crop of young talent, I don't know what to say. I hate the Lakers and I can tell you they have excellent young pieces. By far the most attractive team amongst the big three cities.

I wonder how many people have truly watch clarkson play. This kid is an animal. I truly believe he can be a top 20-25 type of player in about 3 years.

The money that Clarkson is gonna demand next season is finna be insane with the salary cap going up

Interesting to see if he plays great this season

Feel bad for embiid but hinkle is a dumbass and I'll be glad when he's no longer able to disgrace the league.

being this excited for zaza pachulia... sheesh.. gonna be a rough year for dallas fans

Teams that can't rebound and can't defend the paint don't have a chance. On top of that they can't defend the perimeter nor field an elite offense. It's gonna be brutal

Hibbert waived his trade kicker for a chance to play with the lakers. Also signed the sixth man of the year. Not much but it's something.

He's a RFA. So Lakers have all the flexibility in the world to get all the guys they can get. Then bring back Clarkson for whatever price it costs.
