can someone explain why PJ3 dropped so much in that years draft? wasnt he projected to be a lottery pick the year before he got drafted but decided to stay in school? i was watching that draft thinking these teams are insane for letting him drop all the way to OKC
He was but because of a medical knee injury a lot of teams dropped him down! Dude is a straight beast!

PJ3 is already better than Jeff Green. Boston will like him.

I like PJ, but this is ludicrous

PJ should hope to at least be just as good as Green, even though Green isn't that good to begin with. PJ can barely crack a PER over 10  . I have confidence in him and his game, but he's not going to be great just because his demeanor is similar to the likes of a Jeff Green. He will always be the guy that could be a superstar, but never put it all the together. The same can be said about Rudy Gay, but Gay is more talented than both PJ and Green, so he still can put up big numbers in a lazy manner. I see his ceiling as Jeff Green and the likelihood of him hitting that depends on his PT in BOS and how Stevens utilizes him.

I remember when OKC got him and Lamb after trading Harden, everyone thought they were set.

Sheesh idk how Kristaps is only averaging 3 boards a game? Idc if its summer league that doesnt bode well

I don't mind it. Unlike Amar'e and Bargnani, Kristaps boxes out on every possession. Robin Lopez and Melo are going to love it. Padding the stats.

John Wall on free agent market: ‘I’m getting the same amount as Reggie Jackson’
July 14, 2015

The NBA’s salary cap increase has been a complete gamechanger on the free agent market this offseason. The opulent sums being doled out to player after player have many a non-free agent feeling undervalued. One such individual is Washington Wizards point guard John Wall.

Speaking with Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post on Tuesday, Wall dropped some candid comments on the market landscape this summer:

Wall on crazy FA market this summer: "Like, Reggie Jackson gets 5 years, 80. Like, I’m getting the same amount as Reggie Jackson right now."

— Jorge Castillo (@jorgeccastillo) July 14, 2015

Wall did, however, go onto to express his happiness for those free agents getting paid:

More Wall on FA market: "But I’m happy for those guys. To see anybody get the opportunity to live their dream out … that’s a blessing."

— Jorge Castillo (@jorgeccastillo) July 14, 2015

Jackson’s deal with the Pistons was widely criticized as one of the worst overpays of the offseason. For a guy like Wall, who signed his own five-year, $80 million extension with Washington in 2013, his perplexity is understandable.

Jackson has a reputation as a high-usage, shoot-first point guard that projects as average to below-average in four key facets of the position (three-point prowess, finishing at the rim, playmaking, and defense). Meanwhile, Wall’s blend of speed, athleticism, elite defense, pick-and-roll dominance, proficiency for creating open threes, ability to get to the rim and draw fouls, and a much-improved jumper give him a solid argument for best all-around point guard in the NBA.

In fairness, Jackson’s stats in 27 starts for Detroit last year (17.6 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game, and 9.2 assists per game on 43.6 percent shooting) looks awfully similar to Wall’s season-long totals for Washington (17.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 10.0 apg, 44.5 percent shooting). But Jackson’s numbers scream out small sample size, especially for a guy who had spent his entire career up until that point coming off the bench.

Still, it’s a bit surprising to see the usually reserved Wall call out a player by name like this. It could be a situation of Wall simply expressing the general displeasure of all the non-free agents this offseason, which is somewhat concerning. And it’s a problem that is only going to get worse when the TV money arrives in 2016 and sends the cap into an all-out explosion.

:x

I have no idea that Reggie Jackson getting the same contract John Wall received.

Wall last season:

19.9 PER, 52% TS, 17.6ppg, 10apg, 4.6rpg, 1.7spg on 44/30/78 shooting

Reggie in Detroit:

19.8 PER, 51% TS, 17.6ppg, 9.2apg, 4.7rpg, 0.7spg on 43/34/80 shooting

They also have very similar shot charts.

I did this only because people keep saying the same thing over and over again. Not saying Reggie is on par with Wall, but stop acting like he's not at least putting up similar numbers.

So, yes I can believe it. Wall shouldn't even be the one talking. He got a big deal and its not like he's severely underpaid based off the old CBA. It should be guys like Curry (especially) and Conley even though they are about to get paid very soon. Curry making like $11M this year and Conley making $9.5M. Wall making $15.8M, while Westbrook making $16.7M. I don't see Curry and Russ *****ing about them making less or about the same as Wall.

I'M SHLEEP DOE

And out of those 27 starts he struggled in at least a dozen. Happy for him tho

Reggie can fill it up. No doubt. He's in the Ty Lawson tier of PG's, while Wall is a top 5 PG.

That $16m/yr is going to be the new $11m/yr.

I agree. In no way I think Reggie is on par with Wall, but I can understand him getting paid what he received. Conley will probably end up with a very similar deal, if not more. I'm sure Curry will get the maximum amount he can possibly receive, which will put him in the correct tier. The same goes for Russ when his deal is up.

I'm just ready to see OKC vs Pistons next year. You know Russ and Reggie are going to go at each other

I guarantee you if this was Lebron, Paul or any other hated NBA player on NT, people would come at their throat. I don't care if he is keeping it 100, he doesn't have the room to talk about what someone else is earning. There are several elite players that are underpaid in the NBA today, but you don't hear them talking about another man's money.

Wall talking like he getting paid what guys in the 80's or 90's were making  . And if he's going to make a statement like that at least let it be against someone who didn't put up very similar stats as you whether it was 20 games, 50 games or 80 games. Actually, what Wall said sounds like something Lillard would say

Why?

This is gonna be happen frequently going forward, especially coming from guys like Wall, Cousins, Kyrie, etc. who haven't signed their big TV deals.

Can't blame them for keeping it 100.

You just don't talk about another persons salary, by name too. Goes in any business. At my work, we never talk about what someone else is making, unless its private between a close fellow employee and I.

Wall doesn't have to be happy about it. But when you start pointing out peoples contracts, its just crossing the line. Talk about how crazy it is so and so is getting this and that. But don't put names out there.

It has to be some type of unwritten rule. This isn't the streets. Keeping it 100 isn't necessary, especially when you are getting $80M. Curry could say the same thing. How would it look if Curry said Wall is making damn near twice as much as i am? I bet the Union isn't thrilled with this. This is what the players asked for. Guys are going to get paid more than they should. But this is a GOOD thing for Wall. Because when he;s due for a new contract, he'll get a significant increase because a guy like Reggie is making $16M per. He's probably too simple minded for even thinking that far out.
