As @ESPNSteinLine writes, sources confirm Grizzlies and Marc Gasol progressing toward a five-year max deal to keep him in Memphis.

Antonio Davis says if he's LMA looking at Knicks- "don't want to lose on the biggest stage."

I'm convinced this is the driving force behind big name FA's not wanting to play for the Knicks or Lakers.

Salary cap goes up significantly in a 2-3 years as well. That's why a lot of these guys are taking shorter deals, so they can look good on a good team and then get a HUGE pay day when the cap goes up.

Take a look at Shumpert's situation for example. If he played for any other team besides Cleveland, a lot of his weaknesses would've been exposed and magnified. But playing next to Lebron masks a lot of those weakness and augments strengths. This is why he got the deal he got and took the term length for 3 years.

As this **** calculated mother *******. This is chess, not checkers!

**** the pacers & bucks for getting better today

monta is gonna be a god damn issue 4-5 times per yr

The Monta signing pushes Stuckey out the door. He was good with the Pacers last season.

Shumpert got traded to the cavs. It isn't like he picked to play with them, so that isn't the best example.

And the reason why these big name FA's don't want to play for the Knicks and the Lakers is that they simply want to win, and win now.

Monta to the Pacers is a great fit IMO

they have the wing defenders to mask his deficiencies and they really need his extra boost on O

@Chris_Broussard: Sources: Monta Ellis turned down more $ from Sacramento. Kings offered $48 million over 4 years

thoughts on what was said?

U And your Brother suck

I really wanted to see Rondo, Monta and Gay together.

It would have set the analytics movement back a decade.

Yeah, he did get traded. But he got traded into a GREAT situation. Had he gone any where else, he wouldn't have ever gotten anywhere close to that deal. Because all of his weaknesses would've been magnified.

FA's not going to NY or LA is a function of wanting to win now, but it's also a function of them wanting to look good as well. When you go into teams with less weapons, more of the burden is on you to produce and a lot of these can't do it. But going to a team loaded with talent will make players look better than they really are.

n yall still gonna call it the leastern conference....when its the best division in the nba

The East in general is looking much improved. Now all that needs to be done is Wade resigning and we'll be in for a fun season
