Phil Jackson give me a call. I'll play for the @nyknicks... Don't understand how dudes don't wanna play in the MECCA! #confused #thegarden

Tim MacMahon @espn_macmahon 8m
Source says Mavs would consider a salary-dump deal for Roy Hibbert if DeAndre Jordan doesn't choose Dallas. But still hopeful about DJ.

Brad Turner @BA_Turner 8m
Clippers get last pitch at DJ today at 5

I do not think Melo would have stayed if he knew he was going into a rebuild. But then again, he always knew he could get his money and force a trade if need be. He and Phil thought they were going to compete for the playoffs at least.

And i truly believe that this team this year is in contention for a playoff spot if relatively healthy for most of the year... If they can get a Lopez (Which i hope they don't because i want L.A to get em) to go along wit Affaolo, Grant, & Darko Nowitski they can compete for a playoff spot this year.

My point being of course melo doesn't want to be stuck in the lottery every year, but i'm also sure he doesn't want the knicks forcing themselves in to cap hell for a team that can't realistically compete for atleast a trip to the finals... That was the first 7-8 years of NBA reality for Melo in the first place. Good teams around him, Never a great team to fight against the Kobe's, Duncans, etc etc.
And to be fair, Phil thought he was competing for the playoffs too. He just made a bad trade to start his tenure that snowballed into Hell.

Well, call it what you want.

They don't want to hear how Great Kobe is or what he has done, no matter how true it is.

If the Lakers were recruiting me, I don't want to hear how Great Kobe is.
I want to hear how Great I am and how I can help going forward. It's about me. ME.

so without any knowledge or insight towards the meetings you've gathered up that the Lakers have gambled their entire process of signing players by saying " your gonna be Kobe's Sidekick" ? do you honestly in your heart think that's what L.A is telling guys??

L.A met with ONE perennial AS player this offseason... his other option was to play with the only other franchise that has won as much as the Lakers over the past two decades, has the best coach in the L, The same amount of Money, & a championship core.

FA will be more than willing to sign with the Lakers when their rookies show value ON THE COURT..

People always talk about how players want to play with lebron etc etc...

Let's take a look back at CLE prior to the decision... what players were knocking down the door to play in Cle when it didn't look like a lock to make the Finals

Washed up Ben Wallace?
Washed up Shaq?
Washed up Jaminson
Larry Hughes?
Mo Williams?

It doesn't matter how great an individual player is... players value money & winning the most...

Stop making sense.

Yes
And whether they say it outright or it is implied by Kobe being there and looking down on them from across the table, YES.

This is my speculation, 100%
so go ahead along then because you are making an irrational judgement based on NOTHING.
It's all speculation man.

90% of the thread is based on how we see things.

What are you on about G?

David Falk claims that the Knicks offered the max but that Greg Monroe wanted a playoff team. So why even meet with the 17-win Knicks?

Hardwood Paroxysm @HPbasketball 1m
With the Mavs’ roster and situation, I’d rather have Hibbert on that contract than DJ on that team with a max.

Brian Windhorst @WindhorstESPN 1m
After progress was made yesterday, Cavs & Tristan Thompson are currently still apart on contract talks, sources told ESPN.

M. Haubs @mhaubs 1m
Apparent shutout on impact FA’s for Lakers looks like really good break for Sixers, who are holding that LAL ‘16 pick w/top 3 protection.

Bobby Marks @BobbyMarks42
I know it sends a strong message to the NO fan base. But locking up AD now just cost you an extra $12m in space next year. $19m could be $32

So did Phil offer Monroe the max or not? Too many conflicting reports being put out.

My money is on Phil not offering the max.

Saw a little kid wearing an Andrew Bynum 76ers jersey at Disneyland yesterday

They actually made those?

If DeAndre returns to the Clippers, you know Bird is going to hook up Carlise with Hibbert because they're boys.

Sources: Monta Ellis agrees to 4-year deal with Indiana

Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine 1m
ESPN sources say Monta Ellis and Indiana Pacers have agreed on a four-year, $44 million with an option to return to free agency after Year 3

Marc J. Spears @SpearsNBAYahoo 1m
The Kings have agreed to a multi-year deal with guard James Anderson, a source told Yahoo Sports.

Sam Amick @sam_amick 1m
Draymond Green's camp used reported Tristan Thompson numbers to set market for his $82 mil deal. And that deal's not even done. This biz...

J. Michael @JMichaelCSN 1m
Let's say CJ doesn't get a MLE offer, or Wiz lose out on other quality Gs. His price comes down or their offer goes up. It's all about supply/demand. Target shifts. Priority 1 remains a Stretch 4. A guard who can score/shoot is No. 2 #WizardsTalk #NBA

I don't even know why Dallas is so hell bent on getting DJ at a max deal anyway. He's not someone that's going to come in and make that team a playoff team. Even with DJ to me they have a serious shot at missing the playoffs.

I don't know how likely it was that they resign tyson, but I would have put more effort into going for a cheaper route at Center and looking to get a competent backcourt instead of paying this much for DJ, since they keep doing this ridiculous band aid route and not going into a full on rebuild.

Yup. As long as this trend continues of players going home and gm's being buddy buddy the lakers should be straight. I'm looking at you Vlade

And as I type this Monta agrees with Indiana so they now don't have a center, nor do they have a starting backcourt right now. Yikes.

Monta is the perfect for for Indiana.

Would have been better 2 years ago but still...
