i like this debate bc i just pulled up 2015's current roster and man its a struggle out there at the 2 spot right now.

Mitch would avg 20+ easy...

this is a list of starting 2s nowadays.

KK
Ellington
Avery
KCP
Foye
JJ
Courtney Lee
Kevin Martin
Eric Gordon
Waiters
Robert Covington
Ben McLemore
Gerald Henderson
Alec Burks

:x
kinda like Compared to now, Some of the pg's that started/ got Alotta playing time in the late 90's to early 00's tho :x

Some teams were just hanging on to washed up pg's or rolling out somebody that could just bring the ball up court

Take this year for example http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/depth-charts/2003

J.R Bremer
Milt Palacios
Jr Harrington
Dan Dicau
Rick Brunson
The Heat had a Travis Best/MikeJames/Anthony Carter rotation
Alvin Williams
Jacque Vaughn
Howard eisley
Etc..

Yea the 2 guard position is really watered down. Opportunity is right there for whoever wants a top 10 spot amongst the position.

This is who I'd love to see in today's game.. No hand checking on kj :wow:

Players still get hand checked all the time, I never get when people act like it's not part of the game anymore. It probably gets whistled more often but it's still a huge part of the game

I think a lot of guys wouldn't be able to play in today's NBA. I'm not buying this "guys were more fundamental" argument either

This. There's always been plenty of stiffs in the league. If anything there's more talent top to bottom now than ever

What's the point of this debate? There's no way to prove any of this stuff. This is the definition of spinning in circles.

One thing is for sure: Chris Paul would be ringless in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s.

Serious question, how many of y'all were even alive during these eras that y'all are referencing? Y'all making judgments off of highlights or hearsay or you watched games, or what?

Penny would probably be one of the easier players to transition into today's NBA. His combination of ball handling, size, athleticism, passing, etc considering the size of PG's in today's game would make him a seamless fit.

Aside from aggressiveness, the players of yesteryear would dominate because of the fundamentals they had in their game and their bball IQs. Back then coming out of college, it wasn't really about money and was much more focused on fundamentals, team work, work ethic.

Men lie, women lie #s don't. Show me the stats and the accomplishments. Don't tell me Horry has 7 championships and don't tell me oscars triple double championship ring doesn't weigh more. #Imonabetterscale

The
let me rephrase, I'm not disrespecting any 90s players.

But Clyde drexler would be Gerald green in today's NBA. I think Barkley is an all time great, but I don't think his game would be able to translate as well either.

The game was way more physical back then. People had way more pride on defense. If u could score, you could SCORE. Guys like Clyde and Barkley were no accident.. Jordan just was Wayyy better.. He made them seem like mere mortals. But they would be studs. Guys like harden would give up 50 to Niq or Clyde on a nightly basis

Bird would avg 35 and 11. Ppl don't even press up all the way on jumpers anymore. All them lax 3s they shoot back and forth. Bird would be 7-8 in 3s in the first half

This. Cat's don't defend like they use to, hence why two way players are rare.

QFT.

I see we doing more hypothetical past players in today's game arguments, I'll catch yall later.

Meh. In the 88-89 season only one team averaged less than 100 ppg and it was an expansion team.

Hard fouls don't equal better defense. 80s basketball was great but the defensive schemes of today are way more complex

I'm talkin prior to the whole Big East coach endorsements and what not  Once Thompson and them started really gettin money, the flood gates opened up.

dudes were just as good then as they are now in ball. dont know why dudes argue that its better.
