When does the NBA schedule get announced???

I wanna see that Christmas line-up.

It was stupid of the Wizards to give him that contract after the knee injury.

But he was a perennial All-Star in the prime of his career.

You don't give contracts with hindsight in mind.

Pretty sure no one knew what was going to happen to Gil as far as his games played after he signed his deal.
i didnt knew he would be injured but i always felt he was overrated . never was a fan. empty stats dude.

yall are funny man, still gonna say that was a good contract?

he played in 31 playoff games in his ENTIRE career

after signing $111M contract he didn't play for almost an entire year

he averaged 24 games PER SEASON for the next 5 years after that contract

alright man i guess you really watched basketball at that time

thats like derrick rose getting a 5 year max the year after he tore his ACL
if that happened today surely people would think its crazy

just not a select few on NT

I'm wondering if dudes in here were even watching basketball at that time.
 exactly

Hindsight is 20/20 & your response didn't address the point of my post.

He averaged about 28 ppg over a 3 year stretch. There is an extremely short list of players capable of doing that in NBA history.

So if you accomplish that feat, you're getting maxed out from someone even if you get hurt. Period.

as a overrall player yes. his d had begun to fall off in the late 00s. he was getting alot of those all nba d teams off his rep.
But during GIl's prime (Mid 00's, not late), he was doing exactly what Kobe was doing. By your measure of Gilbert, Kobe was an empty stat guy during this time period too.

disagree but i respect your opinion.
In his three playoff runs with Washington he lost to Wade/Shaq and then Lebron James.

C'mon man.
he barely had a 500 record almost every year.

. look at the year he was injured in 2008 team had a nearly indentical record to when he played (with the same supporting cast.) yet that doesnt say he was an empty stats dude? when your team has the same record with or without you, that means something.

It really isn't

you're right derrick rose was much more accomplished than arenas by the time he got hurt

is there another guy who got a $100 M contract the year after not playing due to injury? and was expected to sit out most of the next season?

I mean West Mathews got a max after tearing his ACL. Nobody was flipping out. Obviously there is the concern of will he bounce back, but nothing more than the usual.

60 mil deal vs 111 mil

the landscape of today's NBA is so different. teams were begging to spend money this offseason with the new TV deal looming.

Jordans bulls posted the same record the year after he first retired in 1993.

The '94 Bulls had almost the same record as the '93 Bulls. So what are you saying? Or are you gonna move the goalposts now?

A good coach can adapt if you still have good players on the team. Doesn't make the missing player any less great.

is there another guy who got a $100 M contract the year after not playing due to injury? and was expected to sit out most of the next season?

Is there another big name player in his prime who was a free agent the year after not barely playing due to injury?

Byron Scott said Kobe could play some minutes at the 4 this season  :smh:

i dont think so, which is why i asked. because your comment made it seem like it was factual. "So if you accomplish that feat, you're getting maxed out from someone even if you get hurt. Period."

touche'

they got to the same exact spot in the playoffs tho with and without him. first round and outs.. cant say the same for the bulls without mj tho. from champs to 2nd round.

, so overrall they did not have the same record without mj. thats the same to you ?
