Had no idea there was an Africa vs world game today

what was this about? Charity event?
Just to raise awareness about basketball in Africa I think. Dikembe Mutombo and Hakeem Olajuwon checked in during the 2nd quarter too.

No disrespect towards you.

I just don't like to "debate" with someone about something they saw at age 6 or 8 while I was 21. Its a useless argument.

Its why i don't argue with my pops about guys like Jerry West. Never saw him play (highlights don't count), so I keep my mouth shut. Someone who never saw Melo play but saw his highlights would think he was one of the 20 best players ever. But we know the truth.

So yes, age does have a lot to do with things when we;re talking about something that happened 20 or more years ago

And its why i stay out of discussions about Social Media. I leave that to the youngsters. I just don't understand social media.
i can totally agree with all of this. this makes sense. you have more insight on things you actually grew up watching season after season rather then watching replays and highlights.

Yeah I'm watching it now. Pretty cool event indeed. I see it has to do with the basketball without borders initiative and what not too.

come on. Stats aint everything. If you just looked at the stats, you'd think he did fantastic.

Hakeem was averaging over 30 in that entire series. He dominated him. It was apparent. I think Shaq even said he was owned and realized he wasn't as good as he thought he was.

I'd still like to see Shaq play Hakeem one on one right now. If i remember correct, they were suppose to play on PPV and winner got $1M. Something like that

YO!! Man I was PISSED when they canceled this event. I remember going to my boy's house (he had that illegal cable box) and we had this all planned out. Had our snacks, soda and ready to watch this joint. Then out of nowhere, it never showed and then we realized they canceled it. I remember there were supposed to be undercard matches too. I think something like Kenny Anderson Vs. Nick Van Exel or something and then those Taco Bell commercials to "promote" the event.

illegal cable box. Yes. Bringing back memories.

Taco Bell was all in with the commercials and promotion. Promotion back then was signs in the restaurant and putting a flyer in your bag.

Man, y'all had me reminiscing and i just wanted to make sure I remembered correctly but yeah, one of the undercard matches was supposed to be Nick Van Exel vs Kenny Anderson and the other.....KEVIN GARNETT vs Joe SMITH!!! Man, this event would've been hella fun. :smh:

Of course Kareem would do well.  He had the 'sky hook'.  Post his era, no one has had the 'sky hook'.  NO ONE.  Kobe's and LBJ's are just knock offs.  [Kobe did learn his moves from the big guys though, which is why he waltzed on guys].  No big men "post' that era has had anything close.  The same w/ the shake and pivots.  No big men has the footwork. NO ONE.

My mans in the apt building down the block had all the illegal channels ...ppv wwf and boxing on deck :pimp:

WWF :nthat: None of this WWE crap.

Who remembers Saturday Nights Main Event on NBC back in the day? I remember trying to stay awake to watch it at 1130pm. Me and my boy would usually pass out 30 minutes before it came on

I do. Looking back at it now, I pissed I almost cried when the Hulkster got ambushed by Big John Stud and King Kong Bundy.

Shaq was so good, he has a scoring title, 4 NBA titles, 3 NBA finals MVP's, named as one of the 50 greatest players 4 years into his career,

and He Stilllll underachieved in his career. What a specimen.

All the tools to be the best, but never cared enough to be the best.

Grant Hill's game was so smooth, man

Quick off the crossover, could finish with the left, solid mid range jumper, square form, good BBIQ

And this is on the pistons after the injury

More B role guards today should pattern their game off him
