A message from Dwyane Wade, who reportedly will sign a one-year, $20 million deal with the Heat for next season:

"It has been an honor and a privilege to play with the Miami Heat the past 12 years. The Heat family and I have shared incredible moments over the years and I look forward to continuing our journey. I am extremely proud of my personal contributions in helping to build the Heat franchise and for bringing three NBA championship wins to our great city. For my entire NBA career, Miami has always been my city and my home. I’m overwhelmed with the love and support the Miami community have consistently shown me and my family throughout the years.”

I don't get it tho, he could've made more than 20... he kinda took another cut and possibly more next season

I'm sure Riles has talked about possibly hooking him up with a role in the organization after retirement,if he wants...

DJ wanted to for real get wined and dined, since last time he was a restricted free agent he signed with GS and LAC matched

Now he got the full service

He lost over 7 by opting out last summer tho.

That's true, but at the same time, there's nothing to do about the past. Like right now, no team would offer Wade 15M over a couple of years, so this is the best they can come up with. 20M and cut ties.

This is fair:

Wade can re-sign longer deal with Heat next summer when cap is $89M, but take a little less per year, possibly, and still be satisfied.

Weird to think about how different everything would be if certain teams hadn't matched... POR and Hibbert, GSW and Jordan, MIN and Batum, etc.

Granted, he opted out of a $16 million player option and is now making $20 million next year. There were far worse endings than this in regards to Wade/2015, so while this is not a secure contract for a player who definitely needs one, it's not the worst outcome.

But, if you're taking the chance on a one-year deal, why not go elsewhere imo? The market wasn't ripe for Wade, but that was from the mindset that some team, whether the Heat or somebody else, was going to be giving him a multi-year deal. We just saw a team sign up to pay Brook Lopez $20 million for the next three years... meaning I'd pay Dwyane Wade $20 million to play basketball next year.

Why would be take a 1 year deal and go anywhere else??? He's always been in Miami, Miami should be a good team next year, and is getting paid just for that one year. It wouldn't be right for him to take a big deal on some crappy team, or a team in a city that would change his whole his lifestyle.

Word is that D.Jordan told his homie that he was staying w/ Clips, he just wanted to make the FA rounds and be wined and dined.

Did any other fanbase want Wade? I don't understand the excitement at all. Wade couldn't take a decent team to the playoffs in the East...but he's worth more than 10?! **** no.

People actually think LeBron wanted Wade in Cleveland? Wade's bum *** knees is the reason why he left Miami to begin with.
