here's the thing though, he signed it right after he tore the achilles. So from his perspective, it was more about security. That fear of it all being over and the face 48 mil was the offer these idiots came with, it was brilliant to take it. He's been hurt each year since. Imagine if he countered with a much smaller number and didn't get hurt, and balled out like 2013..he'd be pissed. Would we be in better position? Maybe. Maybe not. Kobe seems more inclined now to share the spotlight with another star, provided you're the right kind of star, but if he was still balling, he'd probs even want Bron and AD to take the backseat.

I completely agree. I have no problems with him getting that money. He deserved it. The Lakers offered it to him. He couldnt really say no.

WOUld be great if lets say he had a good year (around 20 pts, 5 rebs, 5 assists) this coming season. And the Lakers look to be a 40 win type of team. He should stay on for a $5M deal. He still has some juice in him. At that salary, FA's would be more enticed to play for the Lakers. I think players look now and go man, he's making $24M. Taking up too much of the cap.

I wasn't saying he's a bad shooter

... just saying they need him do exactly what you said above and occasionally step out behind the arc.

Should you guys resign Kanter or nah?
biggest thing for okc is getting better coaching..

my focus with signing kanter is the number of years.. if we can get him on a 4 year deal, I'm happy.. just give adams some and move forward with him for the long haul

and I'm high on mitch too

At the Sports Animal using the  "buying a car analogy" while discussing DJ not wanting to pick up the phone to talk to Cuban/Parsons.

It's just spot on.

Thats something nobody could have predicted though. Nobody thought players would be passing on them like this.

Hindsight. Right now his deal isnt hampering them. But this wasnt expected.

Also in hindsight...if he took less and they whiffed on free agents...wouldn't that be even worse?

free agents weren't going to LA even if Kobe took the minimum. players don't need to be in LA/NY/CHI anymore to be a household name.

it's all about the product on the floor. if you have nothing resembling a playoff team (Lakers, Knicks) it's hard to convince FA's to sign, even in a huge market.

OKC doesn't need Kanter to win a title  . They have 2 very capable centers in Adams/McGary +Ibaka plays a lot of 5 when they go small. They can use Collison, if needed. Considering they will go over the tax to re-sign him would make it worse.

@WojYahooNBA: OKC restricted free agent Enes Kanter signing a four-year, $70M maximum contract offer sheet with Blazers, league sources tell Yahoo.

@WojYahooNBA: Kanter offer sheet is expected to include a trade kicker too, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

:wow: :wow: :wow:

Broussard almost redeemed himself this summer too. He was actually breaking a good # of stories and not just copy pasting from woj

Sorry to hear about Austin Nichols fam :frown:

Portland high on Kanter or high on Salt, one of the two.

Throwing in a trade kicker is letting Kanter call all the shots or knowing OKC will match and saying screw you OKC.

Oh well, matters none. Welcome Kanter

, happy to have your services G.

Sorry to hear about Austin Nichols fam :frown:

Pastner has lost so many damn players, the writing is on the wall for him. Too many players have considered leaving or have left since he's been the HC.

Tarik Black
Antonio Barton
Kuran Iverson
Joe Jackson (was going to leave)
Jelan Kendrick
Nick King
Domnic MaGee
Austin Nichols
Pookie Powell
Dominic Woodson
Damien Wilson

All these guys transferred. 10 of his 17 signees transferred during his tenure  . How do you lose nearly 60% of your players to other schhools? Then, he consistently brings in high ranked recruiting classes only to be an incompetent coach by letting the team underperform each season. FIRE HIM.
