Salary cap wasn't about to BOOM like it is after next season, can't compare the current Kanter situation to Harden IMO.

Kanter >>>> Adams/Mitch/Nick in the starting lineup. With Kanter in the lineup, Serge should be able to make up for Kanter's defensive lapses.

No need to let him walk, that 15M will be chump change soon enough.

Show KD & Russ you're willing to spend some money.

Do it OKC, Do it!

I hope you know that OKC's defense with Ibaka and Kanter was equivalent to 25th in the league.

Was able to catch up with Sam Presti. His comment on the reported Enes Kanter offer sheet: pic.twitter.com/bNjcjKGoJh

Kanter/Ibaka lineups gave up 110p per 100, I believe.

Mitch/Collison gave up - 96.9

Gobert couldn't even save Kanter.

Enes is 73 out of 73 centers in DRPM...

Kanter is still young so I will give him the benefit of the doubt that hopefully he can just get himself to be an average defender. Also with KD back and with more time for Kanter to learn OKC's defensive system I think OKC can lower his defensive inefficiencies.

On the positive note, Kanter has great hands and finishes well around the rim and also is a good FT shooter for a center. With the pressure that KD and Russ will put on the defense they can get a lot of easy buckets with dump offs to him.

For a guy that never showed the effort or instincts to be an effective team defender, I don't see it happening. He was traded into a better situation last year and still gave no dambs on the defensive end. Also, OKC's defense was better without Russ last season. As much as Russ likes to gamble on passes (potentially leaving the lane open against Kanter) and teams putting Kanter in the PnR, I think its going to lead into a disaster defensively.

And before someone mentions Harden improving on the defensive end, being on the perimeter is a lot different than defended the interior

That was all without a healthy KD though ..

You let Kanter walk, then we're back to the same ol' Thunder team of old.

Kanter has been in the league for about 4 years or so now,

and the one skill a center is supposed to be good at, defense...he's has the dubious honor of being league worst.

Enes has been a part of numerous lineups in Utah and OKC,

and he's never been a net positive.

He's a career -1.9 DBPM

If he showed an infinitesimal improvement on the defensive end,

we would have seen it by now.

What was that? I thought OKC's big rotation use to suck because they had Perkins and Brooks always played him. Plus, they didn't have a McGary in the past and Adams was a rookie the year they didn't have Kanter. They still ended up in the WCF and that was with an injured Ibaka. I fail to believe that Kanter will be able to help OKC beat a team like the Warriors or Spurs if they matched up in a series. If anything, they will just expose the hell out of him and make him ineffective. Hell, let Marc or Zbo matchup against Kanter and its food. At that point, he becomes too much of a liability and a smart coach would decide to go small with Ibaka or use the better defensive center in Adams.

Agreed but Russ can play defense pretty well if he decides to try and stay in front of his defender instead of gambling or jumping passing lanes but it's in his DNA to very gamble often

.  I don't know what to do on regarding Kanter or not because those defensive numbers are very alarming that you guys have posted up but I also want to see how Kanter does with KD back. Time for Presti to earn the big bucks and figure this out.

is okc ever gonna be fully healthy for a playoff run is the real question

I know man, these past 3 playoff runs have been agonizing because of the injuries. To not know whether OKC can win it all or not but hey guess that is life

Based on a tweet I saw, Kanter is not only bad for right now, he's like historically bad on defense.

OKC doesn't need Kanter, Adams/McGary provide better defense and let's be real, does they really need his offense between Russ/KD/Ibaka?

He's a great offensive player but his defense will never slide in a 7 game series and a smart team will continuously target him through a variety of means.

He's literally bad at everything on defense.
