AD's contract is for not this upcoming season but the next season when the cap does jump. Kawhi's is for this upcoming season. Hence the difference. I'm pretty sure that's the reason, but if I'm wrong, correct me.

Kawhi was drafted in 2011
Davis 2012
Thanks for explaining that. Makes sense.

Also (could be wrong again) but he should be eligible for the Rose rule, which gives him a little more as well.

so a player can sign a contract for the future? That doesn't seem legit. We don't even know the new cap, do we?

"Rose Rule"

A Designated Player may be eligible to earn 30% of the salary cap (rather than the standard 25%) if he passes certain criteria. To be eligible, the player must be voted to start in two All-Star Games, or be named to an All-NBA Team twice (at any level), or be named MVP

Also, it's funny that Kawhi has a DPOY award and a Finals MVP, and neither of those count for squat lol.

Woj said on Fox that Grizz are very confident of signing Marc Gasol to a 5-year deal.

I'm actually shocked because I thought it would be a 3 year deal (3rd year being a player option) or a 2 year deal.

I want the Celts to sign Monta Ellis, Rodney Stuckey & Lou Williams and trot out a 9-man rotation of all combo guards. It's never been done.
