I've been at work so here's my DipsetGeneral-esque recap.
Pretty wild for Dame or any player to lose THAT much of your team in one offseason... that's gotta feel weird. I don't particularly like the guy, but still
I still think Biyombo can become a really good player, maybe I'll hold on to the hopes a little longer than I should, but I'm still a fan. I would have loved for the Knicks to get him. Maybe he doesn't become the DPOY candidate I thought he would be coming into the league, but I still believe.
Roy Hibbert clearly isn't who LA had in mind when they started this Free Agency, but when you miss out on everyone else.. gotta take what you can get. He's still got a value, maybe the change of scenery will inspire him. I know LA will rebound at some point, but it's an interesting lesson that your team STILL have to be desirable on the court to get people to want to play there.
Kobe on his way out, a couple young guys who haven't proved themselves in the league yet, and future cap space isn't as enticing as other opportunities with actual teams ready to go. Now if/when Russell and Randle prove their worth and that they're future stars? Then you can attract the top tier FAs. I think they should have tried to just build a solid foundation and shoot for next year and the year after. You're not going from the top 2 in the draft to the WCF in one year. The goal should have been to find a couple solid guys, push for the playoffs, but you also have Kobe trying to make one last run so there you go.
Good for LMA. I liked him in Portland, but sometimes you have to make a change.. and it's hard to blame a guy for wanting to join an organization like the Spurs. Get to play alongside Duncan, play under Pop, etc.
