They needed to be better, and couldn't afford to be embarrassing again.

Which is a huge reason why we've struck out like Adam Dunn the past 2 years.

Lin is a quality backup/serviceable starter.

I don't know why people don't see this.

This sarcasm? The Rockets gave him every chance to start, and got his spot taken by Bev. Then in LA with free reign, he did nothing If you can't manage to do anything in LA with that PG situation, you've stamped yourself as a backup lifer

Lin and Harden weren't fit for each other. If you didn't see this, I don't know what to tell you.

Lin was better towards the end of this season when Byron got his head out of his *** and let him run pick and rolls.

Massive turnovers, bricked open and contested 3s, and general lack of awareness on the court doesn't fit a team either, so I'm not sure what to tell you either. I backed him a lot when he was here as I thought he had legit potential, but watching him in his entire Rocket tenure, I learned that he is what he is, regardless of him being next to Harden (which I think is a copout answer, but whatever). Lin is what he is at this point in the league. His flaws aren't something you can just magically fix, cause it they were fixable, you would've seen gradual improvement year by year. I'm tired of the excuses for him.

Think he'll be better for the Mavs, though than what he was on the Rockets. If I'm the Mavs I'd definitely take a shot with Lin compared to who else they have on their squad.
