Yea, that gamble sounds like this....

Boss: You're going to work more hours and be in a leadership role

Employee: cool, I'm ready.

Boss: You go from $7 to $8

Employee: Nah, I think this role pays $15

Boss: You're right. How about $15 per hour then.

Employee: Sounds Great

What a gamble
no reason why you should be such a hater.

You must be all in Yahoo comments complaining about why Doug McDermott didn't get more touches.

Sit down my g.

Turning down 50M because you think your better than that...

Requesting a trade to a team where if you flop, you could probably be relegated to being a bench player or out of the league in 2 years...

Playing well and getting a contact that's almost 60% greater...

That is the very definition of a gamble

agreed. 100. smurda out here like sam rothstein

Greg monroe one of the worst contracts easy. Gonna be right up there with kanter

And reggie definitely took a gamble and it looked like it wasn't going to pay off until monroe got hurt and reggie got stuipid hot for 2 weeks

Concerning the whole Reggie Jackson discussion, you could make the argument that by forcing his way out he could fully showcase his skill set

IMO I agree with a-friend in the sense that based off his skill set I think he was destined to get a contract either way. Even if he stayed on OKC in a bench role. You could see his potential oozing everytime he came on. Instant buckets. I always said he had a greener light than Russ which was crazy if you think about it. But God bless Brooks, he encouraged it all

Reggie's numbers were horrible last year in okc and he was getting nudged over in favor of dion waiters. He had the chance to start and run the team when everyone on the thunder was hurt and didn't make a great impression. He went to detroit and was looking like hot garbage. Had he kept up that level of play who knows what kind of money he would've got. He was very fortunate monroe had to sit down which opened up his driving lanes. He was even getting benched for spencer dinwiddie before he turned it around. For 2 weeks

Sure he was going to get paid but but likely not to his liking. He could've been in the same situation and bombed in Detroit and be looking at less than OKC initially offered.

He bet on himself & won.

I can get with that line of thought since I already mentioned that he sort of forced his way out of OKC. He wanted to get a bigger role to show what he could do

Getting paid 32 mil more than what you were offered by your previous is as big if a win as can be. Only Jimmy Buckets flourished more

Just because someone offers you x and you take twice X in the end because you know it's the fair amount, doesn't mean you gambled.
More like you got the fair amount.

I can sell my truck and just because I pass a low baller and agree with a fair buyer, doesn't mean I gambled and won.

It means I got fair market value for my Truck.

There ain't gonna be a lockout. Only reason these dudes getting money like this is because it's directly tied to the income the league is getting.

Owners are eating so well that Kris Middleton is getting 80 million

League hasn't been in this good a place financially ever

All good things come to an end or slow down. Owners are greedy. Brakes will be pumped.

Having multiple work stoppages in 10 years would hurt the value of the product.

When the Milwaukee Bucks are going for 550 million and the clippers are going for 2 billion they can't justify a lockout.

And it's funny because after the last deal was done it was perceived that the players got hammered in the deal. Things always change when big money gets involved.

The players did get hammered.

We as regular people see Brandon Knight get 70Ms and say :wow: but when you look into the increase revenues the league is getting its chump change especially when you look at these contracts within the context of a 79 and 96 million dollar salary cap.

Glenn Robinson was looking for 100Ms before he had ever played a game 20 years ago man.

These owners are winning today.

so is that contract considered max? will reggie not get another chance to ball out and get another max? or will his next max be like lebrons

There was a chance your trucks engine went out before you bfound another seller

Or you thought your truck could pull certain hauls... And you found out it couldn't

Aka gamble

In that respect, every player who doesn't sign an extension is gambling. Every player who signs a one year deal is gambling. These are givens bruh.

Reggie getting more money was a given, if he remained healthy.

We all know being healthy is a part of the game.
If this is the gamble you are now resorting to then, you win again.

Reggie definitely gambled on himself turning down $48M

for example, Ian Desmond on the Nationals turned down $100M before the season & is probably not gonna get that anymore because of his piss poor performance this season.

And I'm 100% on record saying they got hammered which I agree they did. They could be getting more of a piece of the pie but it doesn't seem that way because of all they big money that's raining down on the league.

The big stars will still cash out as always and wth the money rolling in so can the other guys.

NFL guys are jealous today & rightfully so.

Every time a player signs a new deal, I'm going to be like, "they gambled and won", and I will be right, right?

Desmond was out of his asterisk mind to turn down that contract.

Nats lucked out huge.
