Bro, they drafted Harden six years ago, westbrook seven, and KD eight.

It's not 2012 anymore
Find me a team that has been as successful in the draft as the Thunder have in that timeframe......I already named the Warriors for you.

Celtics?  Nope, they drafted a bunch of turds and will continue to be a middle of the pack team because they dont have a real superstar.

OKC has one hell of a scouting department, but they are average to below average at just about everything else IMO.

- took forever to move off Perkins and was not the MAIN reason, but one of the reasons why they didn't keep Harden on board. It would've cost them about $17M, but it would've been worth having 3 of the top 5-7 players in the NBA for 10+ years...

- signed Enes Kanter to a max contract
- got decent value for Reggie Jackson (i wasn't as floored by it as some people because i'm not that big of a fan of Singler or Kanter ---- i do like Augustine)
- got average value for Harden (probably below average)
- gave Collison $8m dollars
- took forever to fire Brooks (actually took an injured riddle season to do that)

i could go on and on...but, their drafting is TOP NOTCH and i guess that makes up for a lot of their weaknesses. Some FO's can't even get the draft or trade department right  . nothing to be ashamed as OKC front office because they are still good, but they are good because of their ability to scout talent in the draft. not because of the other stuff.

In case this was missed on the last page...this is why OKC FO can be considered iffy. Their drafting is great, but rarely make moves to get even better. They either make moves to stay out of the tax, downgrade in talent or to overpay average talent.

But the Thunder Front Office has done nothing in the past seven years in order to bring a championship to OKC

Thats my point.

You can't have a great Front Office if all you can do is draft, unless you somehow strike gold in three drafts in a row (OKC did) and FINISH by winning a title. They didn't do that and they've done 0 to improve.

My point exactly.

kinda agree with Silverback...OKC got the "great front office" rep by drafting KD, Russ, Harden, & Ibaka, but that was a long time ago.

haven't really done anything noteworthy since then..

The Thunder are gonna be that 30 for 30 team that had everything and never put it together.

It definitely could be that way if they don't win it all this year and KD leaves.

But they're going to win as long as RUSS/KD/Ibaka/Adams stay healthy.

There's no team out there with a better top 3 players than them, I think people are underestimating Bestbrook and especially Ibaka's development.

Dude was really the BEST rim protector in the entire league the whole year if we don't count Gobert and he's hitting 38% from 3, that's unheard of.

You put a lineup of Russ/Morrow/KD/Ibaka/Adams on the floor and you have 3 guys shooting 38% or better from 3, elite rim protection from both bigs and an unstoppable force at the PG.

Golden State is the only team that really has the firepower to match them at full strength, a Conference Finals between those two is all I want.

Other than Harden, OKC has done well in team building. Everyone can't be the Spurs. Or a major market. Oklahoma City is not an attractive free agent destination.

I really hate revisionist history on the Perkins trade. OKC doesn't make the Finals in 2012 without trading for Perkins and having Ibaka slide in at the 4. Perkins was still a good post defender up until 2013.

Problem with Perkins is he declined rapidly. Getting him wasn't a bad move at all at the time. Most people applauded it. He was just really tough to unload, and plaything him 24mpg while he was there is not insane. Additionally, most Contenders just don't play rookies big minutes in the playoffs.

OKC drafts exceptionally well. Don't know what dude up there is talking about. Anytime you can draft 3 top 10 players back to back...a top 10 All defensive PF, and 2 promising young bigs, you're doing something right.

sarcasm?

they drafted 3 superstars  who aren't even in their prime yet (well maybe just getting in it).....only mistake is getting rid of Harden

I merely speaking on people saying the Celtics aren't piss poorly run but the Thunder are.  The Thunder have had key injuries the past few years which has prevented them from possibly winning the finals.  The Celtics just suck and will continue to suck.

I think it has already been said, but even if they did keep Harden its not like it would have been guaranteed to work out.  Both him and Westbrook are ball dominant guards not to mention Harden is a subpar defender.

I saw you made that edit just in time.

KD is trending downwards. Dude has foot injuries out the booty and we know what that can do to great players.

Russ won't be a second fiddle anymore. He's gone if KD stays imo

in 2007 no one could see LeBron leaving Cleveland...hell 8 months ago no one thought LMA would be a Spur

i think KD will stay, but anything is possible
