Pistons went on to eventually lose in three overtimes, 127-120, and trailed the series 3-2.

New Jersey scored a combined 144 points in their two remaining games (69 and 75), and the Pistons came from behind in the series to win 4-3.

They advanced to both the ECF (Pacers) / NBA Finals (Lakers) for more 11 more games, winning 8 of them and the NBA title.
