I don't know. 1992 vs 2012 will forever be undebatable.

Both teams are great. If they're in their prime..(every player, not just the team..)

92 PGs > 12 PGs

SGs are about even

92 SFs < 12 SFs

PFs are about even. I feel like if AD is in his prime (which he hasn't hit yet) then he'll be equally as good as Malone if not better. I'd take griffin over laettner

Without a doubt 92 Cs > 12 Cs. That's the only one thats not even close.

I voted that hypotheticals are stupid.

You aint down to put $150 on it

but seriously has James White ever won a dunk contest that mattered
They gave the McDonald's dunk contest to David Lee due to affirmative action (Over James White)

Can't remember who won the college joint his year

NBA one, he was past his prime

The NBA's decision to let a college player on the team back then was ridiculous. And then Laettner gets selected over O'neal. Sure, Laettner had the much better career accomplishments, but I think Shaq still should have been picked.

Isiah Thomas will forever be apart of one of the biggest slights ever when it comes to being not chosen. Straight robbery. I hated Isiah too, but MJ did him dirty.

So you're willing to put $$$ on James White in the dunk contest while he's out here looking like cp3 in the second round of the playoffs?

I've made the argument that the 96 team could have beaten the 92 team before. Take away Magic/Michael/Bird/Mullin/Ewing (Laettner ), add Shaq/Hakeem/Penny/Hill/Reggie/Richmond.

They could take them.

But you said in their prime.

Prime Magic, prime Mike, prime Bird, prime Mullin, prime Ewing? Not busted back 1992 Bird?

Then no one's touching 1992.

Nostalgia be damned.

where you putting Barkley? The '92 PF were much better than the '12 team. Barkley, Malone? Kills the '12 team. Griffin couldn't touch either of these two.

SG's even? MJ/Clyde vs. Harden/Kobe? I guess you could argue its even.

SF's. Bird, Pippen, Mullin vs. Melo, Durant, LBJ. Ok, '12.

Looking at the breakdowns, the matchup looks more even. Instead of a 15 pt victory by the OG Dream team, I'll say they win by 8-10.

Yea they COULD beat them. I could see it happening. Not like the better team ALWAYS wins. There have been wider gaps of talents that saw the lesser team beat the better team every day. So yea, 1996 could be 1992. 2000 could beat 1992. 2012 could beat 1998.

Now the question should be, who would you bet on.

I wouldn't BET on anyone beating 1992

I just meant the teams that played in the Olympics when I said primes.

Just so no one would use the "dream team is a bunch of washed up 60 year olds" argument

1992 vs 2012

PG- Id give the 92 team the advantage

SG- 92 team has the advantage..Jordan was in his prime, Drexler was too

SF- The 2012 team definitely has a big advantage..Lebron, Carmelo and KD

PF- The 1992 team has the advantage...Malone and Barkley

C- The 1992 team has a huge advantage

and what rules are we playing in? Thats important. The soft new era basketball, or the old school basketball? A lot of current dudes would shrivel up if they had to play with the old NBA way of doing things.

Let me first apologize to anyone who's offended with me calling the NBA soft now. Don't want anything to feel like I'm belittling them. That has potential to get some feelings hurt

Prime James White in a dunk contest with any human ? That'll include anybody from TFB. James will lose then lol.

Your list is correct. People forget and don't want to give Clyde credit. He was a bad dude. He averaged 25/7/7 leading up to the Olympics.

Yeah. If it's in the teams prime then I'd probably take 2012 PGs honestly.

If each player was in their individual prime it's different. By then Magic wasn't that great.

See, when people do this, they forget we are talking about the Top 5% of the best basketball players of all time. There are no advantages to be honest. Folks will cook each other. Nobody is stopping anyone because nobody can help off of anybody. That is why these hypotheticals of the best ever vs. the best ever are always funny

Uh...
he kind of missed the ENTIRE 1991-92 season because he had AIDS. And only played in 36 games after the 1992 olympics...

in 1996.

he wasn't that good then.

he had HIV, but it didn't mean he wasn't any good. HIV didn't slow him down. He could have played and still averaged 20/7/12. Just chose not to because of everything involved. Averaged 12+ assists per game for 9 years prior.

Lol this guy. Do you know what belittle means? was there no dictionarys back in your time? you said you wouldn't take a person's opinion serious if he was young during that era, how is that not belittling someone's opinion?

Just cause they played dirty defense and allowed hand checking back in that era doesn't mean its a better brand of defense. Some may even argue that its way EASIER to play defense if you had that luxury. Go wash your face grandpa

You're forgetting the topic of the argument.

You put 1992 Magic up against the 2012 team and he is nowhere near as good as he was in the olympics.

Dude was in the final stretch of his career. Bird too.
