Appreciate the story Essential, I still don't think that proves that he didn't give up. It's all opinion obviously, but when you watch that game and say that he's doing what he can to win a game 7 in the second half I would just have to disagree. The article is making the point that "it wasn't all Kobe's fault" which is valid. I don't think that means that he didn't stop trying though

It creates a damned if you do, damned if you don't, and that's unfair.

IKobe goes off in the 2nd quarter, they are still losing big. Hell he got criticized when scoring 50 on 57% shooting and they lost

If he goes out and scores 30 points in the 2nd half on reasonable shooting, then he gets criticized for being selfish and they lost due to his selfishness, as he wrongfully got in Game 6.

So you don't have an answer to what point he was trying to prove cool.
He was proving the point that by passing (what everyone was telling him he should do more) the team wouldn't have won anyway

So what should he have done that would have proved he didn't quit?

It's also just sort of pointless to have any discussions on that Kobe era if we're all in agreement that his teammates weren't good enough to get him a ring

Wait, this scenario sounds awfully familiar...

He wanted to go to the Clips in 04. And eventually he backed off the Bulls trade request after talking to Jerry West.
That 06 Laker squad had Walton, Odom and Brown as the starting frontcourt. Walton. 2006 Odom. Kwame. Where was the talent?

He don't have the answers Sway
He could have kept playing hard? It's not that difficult a concept

We can have legitimate discussions, just don't go making stuff up out of thin air trying to pass it off as facts when you have no evidence to back it up.

Wait, Kobe didn't quit in that PHX series? Not saying his team wasn't garbage, because it was GARBAGE, but he stopped giving any dambs. The numbers don't prove anything

But your psychoanalysis does?

This evidence, that says in your own words it's all opinion?

He was proving the point that by passing (what everyone was telling him he should do more) the team wouldn't have won anyway

Or this unfounded opinion that makes no sense given the context of how the series played out up to that point in conjunction with the regular season tilts against PHX.

i believe this is true. huge kb fan but i can call a spade a spade. just like that detroit series . we werent that series without malone but kobe shot us right out of that series. kobe has had major f ups before., tayshaun played kobe great that series.

Corpse of Tayshaun going to Minny. Another tutor for all those young bucks, I guess.

So, where's your proof that he didn't give up in the second half...

What were his stats in the second half? I guess the commentators calling the game were just making stuff up too

"When is Kobe going to start becoming aggressive?" Collins asked, with 5:23 to go in the third and the Lakers down 20, after Bryant made a basic entry pass to Parker on the wing to start the offense.

"You would think any moment," Harlan responded, as Parker turned the ball over while forcing a lazy entry pass and then fouling Shawn Marion who had just stolen it from him.

After the Lakers ran a successful set to get Sasha Vujacic an open 3-pointer that he made, Collins said, "Kobe's not even looking for his shot right now, just looking for these other guys to shoot the ball."

Harlan: "Well, we're either going to see Kobe go like crazy in the fourth or the Los Angeles Lakers are going to be a part of playoff history: leading a series 3-1 and losing."

"Kobe Bryant took 35 field goal attempts on Thursday; tonight he has taken 16," was the on-air analysis after the made layup by Odom. Later it was, "Kobe's taken three shots this entire half. He has not gotten a field goal," immediately after Bryant passed the ball to change sides of the floor, a staple of the triangle offense. Walton canned an open jumper off the pass.

Im a Kobe fan and Kobe quit vs the Suns in game 7 in 2006

Not as bad as Lebron but he still quit
Well damb. Mamba, you gonna call these guys out for the psychoanalysis too?

MR. WEST, it is time for you to shine and make the James Harden sig. Adidas, do not be stupid then try and stay conservative. This is your shot, make it count. Any other direction, you are shooting yourselves in the foot.

All time greats, Russell, Jordan, Magic, Bird, Wilt, Dr.J, Oscar, Clyde Frazier, Kareem, upper echelon players, nobody has ever stated that they quit at any point in their careers, during any game.

Many say LeBron choked, and I agree with that, but he isn't included on that list, and neither is that other guy.

How is the menu at Staples Center? It has got to be better than what is served at Madison Square Garden.

 Pretty much...but since it's their boy on this side of things, they try to justify the HELL out of it. :smh:
