Everything I feared about team Canada encapsulated in one game. :x
Jay Triano, I was skeptical of him as a defensive coach because of his time with the Raptors but I chose to give him the benefit of the doubt due to the terrible defensive personel he had...but even in the Tuto Marchand tournament he's running this squad like we are just another euro squad.
1. If we are more athletic, bigger and faster than our competition how come we don't run a defense that takes advantage of this, no pressing, no ball pressure, so passive and conservative on the pick and roll coverages. It feels like we are just letting these euro teams operate so comfortably on the perimiter. It's disgusting to watch.
2. This Spurs-y motion strong offense we run I won't say is stupid, but it's too much to grasp on the fly, and there is way too little playmaking responsibilities given to Wiggins.
3. This team doesn't have a good role definition, Robert Sacre shouldn't feel cool taking multiple shots in a quarter, the PG shouldn't be cool with letting multiple posessions happen where wiggins doesn't touch the ball. We shouldn't be so locked in on trying to find Brady Heslip at the expense of everything else.
and worst of all Jay Triano is Steve Nash's boy so no matter what happens he's never getting fired ever.
