Giving Kobe extra credit for "knowing his teammates and winning with two different bigs in two different times". That's a Lebron James esque meaningless praise if I've ever seen one
 
And why did Kobe never win the NBA Finals MVP with Shaq or finish higher in the NBA MVP voting during those championship seasons?

Because Kobe was 21-22-23? And Shaq was the respected vet.

The next 2 seasons, Kobe did finish higher than Shaq in MVP voting, hence Kobe's claim that he was to be the focal point, and Shaq needed to start transitioning into the 2nd option, which Shaq fought, step for step.

Ironically, Kobe went on to finish in the top 5 in MVP voting 11 of 12 years. Shaq finished 2nd his first year in Miami, and was finished from that point on.

Kobe was in his 4th, 5th and 6th season at those ages.

Playing with a respect vet during stop guys like Russell, Kareem, Bird, Magic, Duncan, Wade, Parker from winning NBA Finals MVPs or finishing higher in the NBA MVP voting than their respected veteran teammate.

Phil Jackson said Shaq was still going to be focal point even if they all returned after the 2004 season.

How about during those Lakers championship years, Kobe simply was not a better player than Shaq.

at least at the outset of the season, the East looks pretty interesting.

the bulls are going into this season under the radar. i believe thibs held that team back in the postseason, hoping for some kerr like magic with hoiberg.

miami and milwaukee will be interesting, maybe one or both can be legit conference finals contenders.

That means Canada faces Venezuela this Friday with a victory securing an Olympic bid. A loss would be national catastrophe, a win by anything less than 15 would be disappointing.
 
Phil isn't gonna wait on KD, he's shown no evidence that he would..also i say there's about a 2% chance KD even thinks about being a Knick.

also when are media outlets gonna stop saying Monroe chose Milwaukee over NY? THERE WAS NEVER AN OFFER FROM NY CAUSE HE WOULDN'T BE A GOOD FIT!!

i know it's hard to believe the Knicks may have some sort of a plan but they're on the right track.

Phil messed up with the Calderon trade but he redeemed himself this summer:

- drafted Porzingis: could be the best player in the draft 5 years from now. 7'3" with an excellent offensive skillset & just turned 20.

- traded Hardaway Jr. for a 1st rounder: all he could do was score inefficently. he sucks

- drafted Jerian Grant: great triangle PG. probably not gonna be a superstar but he does everything THJr couldn't do (pass, score efficently, play defense, etc.)

- signed Robin Lopez: much better use of money than Greg Monroe. excellent defender, willing to do the little things that are needed to win games. has an underrated offensive game

- signed Arron Afflalo: capable of scoring 12-18 a night with above average defense. knows his role & is an excellent locker room guy

- signed Kyle O'Quinn: very team-friendly deal. his skillset will fit nicely in the triangle. gives 120% every minute he's on the floor

- signed Derrick Williams: meh, but if he somehow finds his game he'll be a nice piece

35-41 wins should be the goal this season. if Phil keeps adding pieces that fit together instead of trying to force the issue (giving $100M to Stoudemire) we'll be back in the playoffs sooner rather than later
