I read a blurb earlier that a wnba playoff game was being held at the pyramid in long beach. How the mighty have fallen

i came across a replay and was like "the hell are they playing in LB for??" looked it up, they got bumped by the Emmys at LA Live/Staples. Makes sense, but still...

I found this interesting...I don't follow women's hoops but apparently the Mystics, since they can't draw good crowds at the VC, are moving in to a 5,000 seat facility that will also double as the Wizards training center.

Maybe a new home will finally give the Mystics a true home-court advantage

Obviously the big news is this is where the Wizards will train, but I wonder if more WNBA teams will follow this plan since attendance #s across the league are decreasing.

This would make sense. I never understood why WNBA teams played in the big arenas if they are only like 30% full. Looking at 2014, the median attendance for WNBA teams was 7,348. The top 3 numbers were Phoenix (9,155), Minnesota (9,104) and New York (8,482). For the cities that do have an additional arena with less seating, it would make for more of a game atmosphere.

 @ Tristan wanting 80 million when he's never even been a positive net player for his team in any season.

He played good defense in the playoffs but negatively impacted the offensive end.

Not mention he's not even starting now that Love is healthy.

Makes hella since. Have always wondered this w/ the Sparks. They pay so much in rent for Staples during the summer that it's a surprise to me that they haven't went to this a long time ago.

Would say that I go to Sparks / WNBA games very often and every so often the Sparks get bumped out of Staples during the summer for something and whether it's to the Galen Center, Pauley Pavillion in Westwood, or at the Pyramid in LB this past weekend, the experience is infinitely greater and feels much more like a home court advantage.

Coming from someone that watches the wnba here and there, they need to shut it down. You got players missing half the season because european pay > wnba pay

I'm sure the overall cost isn't that much to take the hit from these women groups who will cry equality. I mean you had that chick on ESPN complaining about men world cup teams making more money than women while totally ignoring the television numbers men soccer put up worldwide

what's a positive net player?

Dude was a major contributor. That's all that should count. Don't think he's worth 80 either though.
