What "excuse" was given last year? I consider lack of quality depth to be a reason, not an excuse. Just one of the reasons the team as a whole wasn't good enough to advance past round 2. But I guess since they've seemingly improved the depth -- barring injuries -- the only thing to be said this next year if they get bounced before the WCF is that they just weren't good enough.
Lack of depth, reason or excuse, which ever it was.

Yeah I agree with your second statement. What I'm getting at more so is the fact that I hold CP and Blake to a very high standard. I consider them near the top of their respective positions. With the help they have, I expect them to advance past the second round at least once in their careers. If they don't, I may have to reconsider how I view them as players
Why do you hve OKC, Golden State, and San Antonio ranked ahead of them?

There's your answer.
I don't really "rank" them higher, I think they will secure higher seeds due to cohesion and depth. Come playoff time, I fully expect any margins to be pretty close despite regular season records
^^^ That's nice. Clippers going to have six as of tomorrow. J-Smoove, JJ, Pierce and DJ already on the list. Blake and CP will be on as of tomorrow, when the top 10 is announced.
This plays into my initial point up above, look at the caliber of their starters. If they don't make it past the second round I guess it's my fault for thinking too highly of them. I have always thought of CP as the best PG in the world. I have seen Blake's progression the past 2 years on both ends of the floor.. now that they have more depth, a player like PP at the 3, I expect the starters to really lead them to the next level, at least the conference finals

Pat Riley joined the Heat 20 years ago today. Wins in that span, including playoffs:

1. Spurs 1241
2. Lakers 1117
3. Heat 1031

"Are you not entertained?!"

Dont see what's so stupid.

Iman is more common as a female name than a male one

edit: maybe the Jr. part is what makes it sound weird, but Iman is fine

Would you look at that, Canada wins in a blowout. Good to see Wiggins led the team in shot attempts, didn't get to watch the game unfortunately

Not to nitpick but it just seemed that the gap was big when you were able to rattle off the top 3 teams and then had to ask who the 4th was. For the record, I agree with the ranking and that's part of the reason I would not be shocked if we lost in the 2nd round again. Disappointed? Yea, but I realize it's the likely outcome. We blew our chance last year.

But besides that, I think CP3 is the top PG and Blake is in the top 3. The thing is they might might play against the 2nd best player in the nba who has a PG who many consider to be better than CP3. Or they might play the team that just washed everybody in the league last year and won the championship. Or a team they went 7 games against who got better in the off-season.

I've never been one to judge a player's legacy based on how their teams performed. Like, what if CP3 has an awful 2nd round but they advance. Is that better than balling out and not advancing? I usually judge a player on how he played in that series. Blake and the rest of the team choked after we went up 3-1. CP3 was the only one who didn't look scared but I won't argue if you wanna say he choked too.

I think the Houston series was the first series in the CP3 era that we lost where I fully expected to win. Especially after beating the Spurs and winning a game without Chris Paul in Houston. That was the first series I was truly disappointed in. Even the OKC series 2 seasons ago I didn't expect to win even though we had a good chance to.

If CP choked and the Clippers still made the conference finals, I'd be shocked. That would cement the fact that they have legit depth

If CP then choked again in the conference finals, then idk. That would be bad... it would depend on how it all shook out. If he played exceptional in the conference finals, and they advanced to the NBA finals, not many folks are going to remember him having a bad 2nd round

I would be shocked if CP never got out of the second round. For as good as I think CP and Blake are, I just can't imagine it. Now if they run into OKC or GSW in the 2nd round, of course that's a HUGE challenge. At the same time, they beat SAS last playoffs and have beaten GS in a 7 game series in the past. Of course GS has improved and won a title but the Clippers have improved as well, they haven't plateaued or gotten worse. Blake has made huge strides same with DJ. Now with their added depth...

Again it just goes back to how I view CP and Blake as players. If they are as good as I think they are, I would hope that they would somehow, someway, get to the conference finals. If ANYTHING, the second round should be CLOSELY contested, win or lose

I'm actually with you. That's why I have always blamed the Rockets choke on Blake and CP. They should have been able to pull out Game 6 in the 4th quarter. They failed. Hopefully, that's the last "learning experience" they needed.

I'm ready to see LAC in the mix, they have the players in place and now not everything is on the starters' shoulders

Getting past SAS last season proved a lot to me about the core. Felt robbed of Draymond vs Blake II

gonna be tough to see Markieff leave Phoenix after covering him a lot last year... he's a good player someone will get a stud

He should come to Boston.

Who is top 4 out west right now

GSW
OKC

SAS

LAC or HOU?

Houston will ways be better than the Clippers for the foreseeable future.

They are never going to best 16.

bigger media markets are in the east, and they aren't going to risk a scenario where 70% of the playoffs start at 10:30 at night.

and half the league is incentive against it happening.

it's never going to happen.

Exactly.

Cant believe were exactly one month away from preseason
REPORT: Chicago Bulls Pursuing Trade For Rudy Gay
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the Sacramento Kings believe they have a better chance of getting the right value out of a Rudy Gay trade than they would in a DeMarcus Cousins trade:

“Kings higher-ups believe it’ll be tough to find value for Cousins and believe they have a better chance to find the right trade for Rudy Gay, according to Wojnarowski (H/T Hoops Rumors
).”

The Chicago Bulls may be a team looking to give them that value considering the amount of talent they have stocked up in the power forward position.

A trade involving Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott has reportedly been considered
and would give the Bulls an impressive wing duo of Jimmy Butler and Gay in the starting line-up.

Gay has averaged 21.1 points and 5.9 rebounds on 45% shooting from the field and 34% shooting from beyond the arc. He’ll be 29 years old going into his tenth season with three years left on his contract.

I'm a fan of Rudy Gay. I like his game alot and Memphis would have been Western Conferencd champs already had they kept paying Rudy and kept that core they had.

He can shoot fairly well, defends very well, rebounds. He is a very good player overall but him being a no.1 option was only in Memphis. Sacramento he'll be the no.2 or 3.
