Emanuel AME : Charleston South Carolina shooting has left at least 8 dead.

It's a system.

There's nothing one individual can do but stay aware. Just see it around you; how blacks are only depicted in a certain type of way on television, and how the president can't even accomplish anything against the system which greatly impacts politics. See the lack of diversity in corporate America. There's more to it than blacks not being qualified. Most blacks don't feel a sense of belonging, so being the carbon copy of a white person in black skin makes one resistant to his/her own self/aspirations in being a success by America's standards. The double consciousness that Du Bois talked about is real. It's like a constant war with two people.

I can't do anything but try and be the best individual that I can.

You know how many black men have died trying to buck the system?

Even Obama knows; that's why he can't get but so vocal.

Every black person has been confronted with this reality; some choose to ignore it and go about their lives, while others have a more difficult time assimilating if they do at all.

You can just tell they are sooo racist smfh.

One just said "someone should have done something to stop the shooter....i don't know why they all just waited to get shot"

WTF.

A mindset that has persisted for generations...

I say it's hereditary.

If that's the case for alcoholism it can be so for racism too; especially the way it's practiced in the west.

This.

There's also nothing worse than when white people ramble on about how "it's all mentality, you have to have self belief and persistence in order to succeed. Bringing up race will just be a self imposed obstacle towards success"

No. When the system is so offensively disadvantaged against black people, having ultimate self belief and confidence is not enough most of the time.

It's like if a white person needs to climb one mountain to get to the top, but a black person needs to swim 10 miles, run 30 miles, climb a mountain twice the size just to get to the same destination.

Mike Brown happens

Faux News....what about black on black violence?

Cornel and Tavis supporters...what is Obama doing

Baltimore happens

Faux News...look at those animals rioting

Cornel and Tavis supporters...what is Obama doing

Charleston happens

Fauxs News....is it a attack on religion?

Cornel and Tavis supporters...what is Obama doing

The funny thing is that these black "intellectuals" think they're helping.

I was watching what was on Faux News today while at the gym. They were covering the hell out of those escaped convicts, while MSNBC was covering the debate about the flag. Distraction from having real discussions. Cornel and Tavis and their followers are doing what Republicans and Tea Party leaders want them to do. Even during a time of what should be reflection and mourning we can't come together for a common cause. Cornel makes about himself and Obama.

An example of the distraction, make it about Obama

I see one being no different than the other.

Instead of racism, the confederate flag, gun control, hate groups, those families...how the hell did Obama come up?

Cornel isn't even big enough to distract anybody from anything. If it ain't him the media will use something else as a "distraction". Yall keep depending on the media when actual NEGROS need to **** and come together. Like who seeks the god damn media for answers?

Media ain't never been for black people so at this point it should be used to at least know what narrative folks are going to run with in your daily interactions.

Fox News will always be for the far right so getting worked up on what they say is a waste of energy. I think the coolest thing is when a white person at work tells me they watch Fox News. I immediately know what I'm potentially dealing with an act accordingly

I believe Magic's point is that the far right is baiting the same reaction over and over. And a group of black folk seems more that willing to give to them over and over

Let's not talk about the real issues. Lets get mad at Obama for not talking about the real issues.

And black folk are looking at each other arguing. And the racist right get another check mate.

See you at the next tragedy

personally think any person getting baited by them is either completely stupid or scared to tackle the real issues. Fox News is literally entertainment to me because I know they fuel ya average sws talking points. I've been staying away from the news the past few days but Cornell and Marc were the only two brothers to call out white supremacy. Even on social media most blacks are busy complaining about the flag instead of the system that oppressed us.

I'm on my iPad and nt sucks on here so I'm sure it changed some of my words btw

Don Lemon is the grestest rustler I'ver ever seen. Dude comes at my jimmies at angles didn't know even existed

The brother is seriously operating in a different dimension, word to Inception

Trolling for ratings...think he was #1 Monday night for the news category
