I mean, what else are they gonna do? You let Cousins walk, there are no other options out there. You draft a guy, it's a gamble, and if it pays off, by year 3-4, you're reaping the rewards. Do teams really have that luxury of time on their hands.

Kirk can play in this league. He proved it last year. It was his 1st year as a starter and he had a hell of a season. IF he stays healthy next season, he and the Skins will beat some teams w/ winning records.

He's the least of my worries going forward.

Nah I agree with you, the 'craziness' part of my post was more directed at the fact that he hasn't beaten a team with a winning record. The $ isn't that big of an issue contract wise.

I hear ya....Cousins is only 27 and has one year of starting under his belt. He's done enough (by NFL standards) to get a 2nd contract with the team. The teams with a winning record that he lost to last year were Carolina, NE, NYJ, and Atlanta. 2/4 were elite teams...I think that stat is a little overblown considering how little PT he had under his belt until this season. Skins, and Cousins, should be better going forward.

Calvin Johnson is legitimately the only reason I became a Lions fan in Georgia at a young age. SMH. I great dude robbed of an legit opportunity to win a ring, due to an incompetent, unskilled, trash *** organization and on-field talent.
 
I hate to admit this but I'm kinda happy he retired.

Thanks to Martin Mayhew there was pretty much no way restructure his contract in a way to keep him and pay him what he deserved.

Him retiring doesn't force the LIons to cut arguably the best player in team history.

I just hope in 6 years I don't read some report about him developing CTE and that's why he retired. :frown:
 
But on the other hand I'd rather Calvin retire, than endure another lost season with ****head Jim Caldwell at the head. CJ deserved every dollar of his contract; not because of play, but because of the ******* of the Lions.

Cmon... I'm a Bears fan and even I gotta give it up to CJ. He tore the Bears apart way too often

Not the best ever but he's definitely up there.

was 2015 the last year of his contract? He's walking out on millions if it was.

wish he had any talent surrounding to make him an even greater WR than he is.

Its weird, I'm sad but at the same time the emotion that's coming to me the most right now is gratefulness.

He was our only shining light during the worst time in franchise history. All he did was try to kill himself to bring this team a winner.

I do think back to all the games he shouldn't have been on the field but he was still out there causing damage to his body and how that probably led to this.

But look at the stats of his 1st playoff game ever in 2011.
