I like Brandon Marshall, but...

He talks WAY too damn much.

You a part-time media member. Fall back until you retire g. They're still gonna have a spot for you somewhere on these networks.

What you mean bruh  ... his season is over and he's doing his part-time job ... he didn't say anything wrong, SAS asked him the question and he responded by saying he didn't want Kaep because Fitz is his QB.

basically this

typical ESPN using a clickbait headline

Bogus headlines. He said he likes Fitz and Fitz is doing great with the roster and coaching staff. I'm a huge fan of Brandon but Fitz overachieved last year and was getting by. I would take Kaep over him. More athletic, stronger arm and younger. We always hear about how smart Fitz is but then he has those 2-3 INT games where he makes so many bad decisions .

As for Kaep, they said he wants out because of how SF handled him last year and not because of Chip. Hired a bozo coach last year and got rid of his coach. Had a botched line and didn't get much help. Just a disaster year for everyone in that organization. I don't think SF lets him go though. Not enough QBs out there to dump someone this young and talented

I'll admit I'm just going off the screenshot and didn't watch the vid yet. Shame on me.

I was already leaning towards this before today though. I don't mind him being opinionated as an active player, he doesn't play for my team so it's cool. But I feel like sometimes dude thinks his playing days are over and he can say whatever.

I'm sure the Jets top brass are cringing right now and Fitzpatrick's agent is loving it.

You never want to lose some leverage before negotiations begin. Not 'eem a tiny bit.

Eh I wouldn't say they are cringing. Both sides mutually want one another; while the report did come out I think the "Jets are intrigued on his desire to play here" part is bogus. At least I hope it is.

What kind of leverage is there for Fitz? He's getting old and doesn't have great numbers. Had a good year and then threw them out of the playoffs in the last game. I think he has zero playoff apperances and he's been on decent teams.

That would explain such a drastic drop-off in production from Kaep. I think a change of scenery would do him good.

Correct. Same for Marshall. That's why for the two of them that Bills loss was extra devastating.

His leverage is that the Jets have no QB

But how many teams that don't have a QB are gonna be looking at Fitz? Fitz doesn't want to leave because of the OC and WRs. There's leverage for both sides but the Jets are in control.

I think many teams, considering the garbage QBs that are often given contracts.   Look at Josh McCown last year.  Or what was given up for Sam "No Potential" Bradford.

True but people still believe in Sam for some reason. He's gonna get a decent contract. Other teams might offer Fitz two year and 14 mil type deal or something. He's getting old and hasn't done anything. He's had like two good seasons and bounced around. I just hear all these Jets fans calling in and love Fitz but he's average as hell.

If you actually watched Sam play the final half of the season with no run game and bum wide reviewers then you would see his value to a team

NT you are either elite or you suck, no middle ground

This is Contract Negotiations 101 bro. Both sides definitely want each other. But there's a price they have to meet at, and it's all about getting as close as possible while trying to get a W for your side.

Manish Mehta is a hack, but he's got real sources directly and non-directly involved with the team. He's just doing what reporters gotta do for teams they cover in order to get paid back at a later date. This is one of those, "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" type stories.

Who knows if Kaep really wants the Jets or vice versa? Remains to be seen. What I'm confident about though is the Jets brass absolutely want that story floating out there since they're about to enter contract negotiations with the incumbent QB.

So when my man B-Marsh makes "headlines" by knocking it down and sticking up for his guy...it's not exactly beneficial to the Jets side for leverage.

Not that I care too much anyway, I hope y'all max the **** out of Fitzgerald for the future.

Someone gets it. *daps*

Bryce Petty isn't ready yet and the cost of trading for a competent QB and/or re-working a contract extension is usually significant (doesn't necessarily need to be Kaep). Jets are built to win now. Fitz and his agent know what it is.

We don't roster a Fitzgerald, bruh  .

But no, I hear ya all the way. I just think even once the season concluded, bringing back Fitz was a priority. You said as well that this team is built to win now. Obviously you look to improve in any position, and if there was a QB out there that was better than Fitz, I'm all for it. But the chemistry he has with the current roster, it's hard to turn away from that. Week 17 aside, this team was clicking. Any other year and 10-6 is an earned playoff spot. Just ****** luck that this wasn't one of those seasons.
