What I mean is I think he's a great X's and O's coach. He puts his players in positions to be successful 99% of the time.

However, like everyone knows, his biggest downfalls are clock management and play-calling.

I think Andy Reid is a top 10 coach in the league.

So what happens if Jameis has a great game this weekend vs the Saints while Mariota plays terrible vs the Browns defense that let Ryan Fitzpatrick look great?

"Saints defense is terrible, anybody could do that"
"He's not going against Joe Haden every week. Browns defense is very underrated"

Has anyone found that speech by Forest Whitaker from last night's opening segment of TNF? I mean, it has got to be out there somewhere by now.

You're really in your feelings lately. Not everything is MM8 vs Jameis. Please watch some other football and discuss that.

It means that they're both rookies?

What happens if Jameis stinks up the joint again while MM8 plays great?

I mean, if you're bad at clock management and play-calling, doesn't that make you a bad coach

Not necessarily in my opinion. There's alot more to being a head coach than what meets the eye when watching game and focusing on specific plays like Charles' fumble and what could have been. Some that come to mind are player development, game planning, practice structure, weekly routine. Alot of things that put you in the position to win in the first place. I look at Mike McCarthy who i'm capable of speaking on the most. Top 5 coach IMO and you saw his clock management last year against the Hawks. He's had issues with it before but his success speaks for itself. He's top notch at many of those things I listed.

Also, something I just thought of as I was typing this. It's gotta be easier to manage a game as a defensive minded coach like Carroll and Belichik no? Head coaches who call plays really do have a lot on their plate. Which is why I didn't like McCarthy forfeiting his play-calling duties at first but its grown on me and now I get it. Interested to see the effect of him being willing to do that in order to be able to look at the bigger picture during the game with things like clock management.

Couple of those Mariota TD's were just awful defense but the one to #13 was a thing of beauty.

The release on this one :wow:

As expected:

@AdamSchefter: Johnny Manziel will start at quarterback Sunday in Browns’ home opener against the Titans, Mike Pettine announced Friday.

^ Exactly this.

They're both rookies on 2-14 teams. People seem to forget that the Titans we're actually worse on both offense and defense than the Bucs... they just had a stronger SOS so they got the #2 pick instead of #1. Both of them will experience ups and downs -- they aren't expected to be Andrew Luck.

For me, it's the fact that all offseason the talking heads said:
-MM8 can't command a huddle
-MM8 can't take snaps under center
-MM8 can't throw
-MM8 is a gimmick
-MM8 isn't accurate

So yeah, when my dude goes out there and has the best first game as a rookie QB since WW2, I'm gonna enjoy it.

Most unprepared defensive effort I've ever seen as a Bucs fan other than that beating the Falcons put on us last year. Both with scrub *** Lovie Smith as head coach.
