I didn't even consider them :frown:

I know they are huge but I have them in a different category than the big four

The NFL should do what it can to protect it's brand. You may want consistency and frankly I agree, but to say that people don't care that the players are murderers/rapists/wife beaters/felons is short-sighted. I mentioned UFC earlier and it's image issues, those same issues could be as widespread for the NFL as it is now for that league if the NFL doesn't stay on top of it and gives the impression that it tolerates it.

NFL and NBA go back and forth over bad rep. Although I do believe a part of it has to do with racism

UFC and NFL

Young tested out Alpha dudes who make a living being violent and crazy sometimes acting crazy and violent...shocking

I miss them being able to be violent on the field :smh:

Unchecked aggression now off the field :smh:

Semi-srs

Going to start watching a lot of NFLN and my Pitt DVDs to get ready :pimp:

I don't think the issue is as widespread around the NFL as you seem to think it is in regards to bad behavior. Do you have any data supporting your view?

I have felt that with the NBA but not the NFL (shrug)

But I'm sure there are some underlying biases and agendas

Yeah it's definitely worse in the NBA. But I've noticed it more lately in the NFL now that's their is more black QB's. I mean Kaep was called a thug because he had tattoos and dressed like a high schooler

No I believe the overwhelmingly majority of NFL players are model citizens

Theres just more NFL players

Very true.

NBA has worked overtime to come out from under that (completely unfair) reputation though.  And all the stars are golden boys now and they've done a great job of marketing that—so props to them.

Of course the Manning/Big Ben types are never going to be called "thugs" no matter what they do.   And there's plenty of racism involved in the criticism of many athletes.  But with that said the NFL does have serious off-the-field behavior problem that they need to get control of imo.

Right, and I'm with you on that.

I do agree there's some undercurrent of race/class bigotry when it comes to these players and their representation in the media. Most of these stories seem to slant a particular way that I can't put words to, something inherently inescapable about the coverage. An ugly, "here we go again" aura.
