pippen isnt complimenting lebron tho. totally different scenario

how is troy saying romo is better then him benefit him ... '
from the article

"Aikman should be commended for his modesty, and for acknowledging that there should be more to judging a quarterback than counting how many Super Bowl rings he wears"

So winning doesn't matter to you personally. It matters to ME. Troys opinion is wrong to me. His comments remind me of someone upping his little brother. He's saying something nice about the current QB of the Cowboys.

Bonds the best ever because Willie said so. I will find more examples of athletes saying this just to be nice.

more to being the best then rings in football bro. i dont get why thats so hard to see. how is he being nice . that just sounds like hes  being honest. troy aikman has some  very mediocre career stats. he was the ultimate game manager but thats where it ends. not a great  or superstar qb but around a good system he was good enough to win.

Winning is a variable in my equation but certainly not the one with the most weight

Agreed. The best QBs throughout the history of the NFL have won more often then not. I hear all the time about what on offense Brady doesn't have. However he still has 4. Point is QB is more essential in today's game to winning then ever before.

Not only is Romo great he has a top receiver and line. Not making the NFC Title game is telling. He also had TO who folks are currently raving about.

Since 03 only 4 QBs in AFC have even played in the SB. Payton, Brady, Flacco and Ben. That shows the dominance of the position and its effect on winning.

None of those QBs has Romo ever had to go through to reach the SB.

rings dont tell the whole story. stats dont tell the whole story. its not black and white.

You could say that shows the dominance of a few AFC organizations.
Agreed .

Look to the defenses the cowboys have had . Qb is probably like 25 percent of the whole equation as far as a football team . Defense , special teams .

Marino still goat to me even without the rings . Sorry but I don't believe in the rings argument in football

There's been 9 from the NFC in that same time.

Russ, Drew, Eli, Rex, Rodgers, Warner, Matt, Kap and Mcnabb

I know. The AFC has been very top heavy. My point was that you could argue it's about the organization as a whole more than the QBs.

Hey man if you think he's the greatest it's cool. I respect it. We just judge the position differently.

I'd argue remove those QBs and those teams wouldn't win as much. Winning and losing ultimately determines the perception of a organization.

It's because the AFC has sucked and lacks depth besides a few top heavy teams

Teams or QBs? I can point out teams with better defenses or weapons throughout the years. The one thing the other AFC teams have in common is weak at QB. Rivers and Luck too already have made the title games.

the teams turnover a ton. but the QBs are the common factor (and coach in some cases)

Has there been a recent team to win( consistent playoff appearances) for a long period of time( 10 years) without a good quarterback?
